How much does a coach's actual ability to coach and develop players...

...impact how that player performs in college? The reason I ask is that I saw some coaches, especially later in their careers, who could recruit like crazy (load up with 5-star/Micky D Burger boy level players, but struggle when they lose just one of those players to injury. I'm looking straight at you, Roy Williams! IMHO, he should have been able to plug another 5-star player into that starting role and they continued to win. UNC's current football coach is similar...recruit like crazy, but coaching and player development are foreign concepts.
