We beat a decent team last night. Winthrop was well coached and returned 4 of their top scorers from last year's team. Despite our offensive struggles in the first half especially, I thought our defense was excellent. My top surprises so far: (1) Lawal: what an athlete, something we were sorely missing last year. He adds rebounding and once he gets more comfortable with the 3 ball, look out! (2) T. Johnson: he physically looks the part out on the floor despite being a freshman; I think he could be the Tyrese Radford type. His offensive rebounding was key in the first half last night. He could be very special - I hope we can hang on to him. (3) B. Hammond: it seems the PG spot right now is 50/50. I thought there would be more of a dropoff after Rech, but that's not the case. It seems Coach Young trusts Hammond as much as Rech right now.
