What's up w Mac McClung (whose Dad was a fine Hokie football LB'er)

He excels in G League (MVP) but only a cup of coffee in the NBA. I would think he would be an upgrade over many NBA bench players, especially for teams needing spark. He also won NBA slam dunk competition.... twice. What am I missing?
