The quality of the opponent has to be considered but... (1) We are deeper and more athletic at the 4/5 than last year. Mutts was obviously an athletic freak, but he combination of Long, Beran, Kidd, Poteat, +/- Nickel has better potential defenders than last year's 4/5. (2) Nickel is going to feature heavily in the rotation. He is active on defense and a major threat on the perimeter. His presence is going to open things up for Cattoor and Pedulla. (3) Rechsteiner and Young are further along than most freshmen. We'll see how it plays out but Rechsteiner is better than Pedulla was as a freshman, and Pedulla more than held his own by the end of that year. Rechsteiner will give quality minutes at PG this year. And Young is a good all-around ball player. He will eat into Collins minutes by the end of the year if he continues to improve. (4) Long appears smaller than I remember but is active on defense. Beran didn't have a good night offensively but was also active on defense. Hopefully, their offense comes along as the get more comfortable with our sets and movement. We need some offense from them. (5) Collins' shot is still funky. Allene's was too and that makes for inconsistency. Hopefully he figures things out because if he's not a threat, it makes things that much harder for the other 4 guys on the floor. (6) Wessler and Camden are not going to get much, if any, time in the rotation this year. If you get limited time in a 50-pt blowout game, it's just not going to happen. But, hopefully both guys continue to improve and can contribute in games in the future. They are valuable to have in practice. ** Edited by goodbadugly at 11/7/2023, 3:34:30 PM
