The opinion of people who are not aware doesn't matter, IMO.

Someone who is unaware of VT's decision doesn't follow the team and therefore isn't a fan, and is almost certainly not going to donate to the athletic department. It seems that this decision was made with zero consideration about how the fans would feel, which is incredibly short-sighted as far as I'm concerned. The program NEEDS the fans much more than the fans need the program, and it appears the program just alienated a whole bunch of people it depends on for its very existence in modern college basketball.
