Odom has been better than MY and yes, Tony Bennett at building competitive and top of their respective leagues teams in the portal era. So I frankly am not as concerned for Odom as I would be Young… who just showed rebuilding a roster led to a meh season (with a big asterisk due to a PG that liked $$$ a bit too much). I think our difference lies in expectation of players. I just don’t see the steps you are expecting out of this entire roster that has never played together. Is it possible - yes! But to expect it is another. I think the holes are there not because it means uva is better than VT, the holes are there because there are holes. Will be interesting to see what happens when MY stops using his bench like he does in the acc season…. interesting to see how a MY team that never adjusts well to cold shooting due to inefficient scorers/lack of a legit bucket (Pedulla, Lawal) does when they are matched well in the half court. These are things that happen every season to MY teams. Now they won’t? Cmon. Just as I mentioned the key flaw with Odom to watch is when the “let the guards do their thing” becomes inefficient - what offense can uva run to get a good look/change flow? And let’s be frank. Reality is reality. Your third and fourth big haven’t played a second of acc level basketball. But that’s overblowing. Your 6’8 20 ppg guy hasn’t averaged 20 a night, even in his own league a step below ACC…. But now it’s happening. Inefficient role players are now elite all the sudden? And not a single player on techs roster has shown to be a true number 1 scoring option night in night out. And that “number 1” just led his team to a .500 season before this? Can this all happen - yes. Advalas can be the guy, Lawal can jump. But to act like it isn’t a legit concern that limits the potential of a team on June 10th considering it is all hypothetical at this stage…. That’s unfair to call it overblowing because I am a uva fan.
