Defensive metrics in bball don’t always tell the story because it’s hard

To isolate the impact of a player from the team he’s on. Cal wasn’t great defensively so that will naturally hurt your rating. He also didn’t generate many steals or blocks (even though these don’t necessarily indicate good defense, just look at cattoors stats), so that will tank the d rating even more because that’s a component of it.
