We both agree there is room for growth...

No argument on that and certainly no argument from me re Macado's...but I wasn't going to leave them off the list of non-national restaurants in Blacksburg. However, I do (strongly) disagree that "MOST" of these have drifted. I personally like Cabo a lot...your mileage/taste buds may vary. Lefty's rarely (if ever?) disappoints. Our Daily Bread is excellent...at multiple things. Avellinos is consistently good. Gaucho is often fantastic. As you noted, Souvlaki is great. I could go on. I live and eat here all the time. I agree we should have a broader selection of restaurants...but one of the best ways to get that is to support the local businesses that busted their tails during COVID in a college town to stay open. We were fortunate not to lose many places during that timeframe and have added some recently. When other restaurants (that might pass your test) look at landing here, they won't bother if they don't see local support. Not sure what nationals you opt for in Blacksburg instead...but just suggesting that you and others give some of these a chance the next time you're in town. Or...if there's a local/regional restaurant you love in Raleigh, Clemson, or Auburn, tell them to check out Blacksburg as their next market. Positive word of mouth makes a difference - and so does negativity.
