Not if you shut down the NIT.

Adding 32 teams and eliminating the NIT would make sense. I’ve always liked the NIT, but with teams declining bids and/or players opting out it doesn’t make much sense anymore to play it. I like GC’s idea about auto bids to regular season champs and tournament champs if we go to 96, but only if we stop playing an NIT. Another idea would be to leave the NCAA at 64, keep the NIT and make it a money tournament. Then teams and players would be happy to play in it for money. We need to stop playing events that players and teams are opting out of. Football bowls and basketball NIT. When the schools and or players don’t want to play in them anymore then we are just patching along obsolete events to keep playing them.
