Thanks for the response. Lots of good points.

I think that Coach Young has been spectacular in finding diamonds in the rough (e.g. Cattoor, Aluma, Mutts) and molding them into highly efficient players who play well within his system. This has created results that no other VT coach has achieved (ACC Championship). I also think it is concerning that many of his most highly ranked recruits (e.g. Cone, Bamisile, Rice) haven't panned out, at least not at VT. Each of their circumstances is unique so it could be bad luck, but it seems to be a pattern. It's hard to win consistently if your top recruits aren't contributing. Listening to Coach Young's recent interviews, he knows he needs to adapt to the modern age where rosters turn-over more. It's an open question whether he can adapt effectively. I'm pulling for him because he's clearly a good coach, and by all accounts a good man. BTW, I prefer a more up-tempo style (like you do). I really enjoyed Buzz's teams, for instance. But in the end, I just want VT to win, so style is less important to me.
