In a nut shell their opinion is that those who like getting ahead by cheating will cheat. The NCAA is a tiger who's teeth have rotted out through aging and not keeping up with the times. They bark, but the schools that invented cheating dont care...except follows- full article linked.
What's next?
After failing to take the lead on NIL rule changes, the NCAA is trying to establish itself as the enforcer of existing rules.
The body announced that it considers NIL collectives to be boosters, which makes them subject to NCAA rules prohibiting them from the recruiting process.
Which means the NCAA is on the lookout for wrongdoers. But with some very real caution: some legal analysts say the body could open itself up to an antitrust probe if it tries to punish any school for offering recruiting incentives.
How would that happen? Likely if the NCAA investigates or tries to punish a school, which would almost certainly trigger a lawsuit, and a ruling from a judge on if the NCAA has the legal authority to enforce these rules.
