Let me ask you this, what happens more? Home visits or recruit event
visits? Everyone has to do the event visits (Well they don't have to, but you know what I mean), and unless you are in the town that event is in, you're spending equal-ish costs for hotels/travel/food etc. I say equal-ish because it depends on where you go and how you hit the town with your recruits and we can quibble on flight costs, but then how often does MY use the private jet? Clearly, Brent's been using it this week, so I don't know if CMY gets to do that or not at this point.
But for in-home, at their school visits...do those just not happen nearly as much any more then? I understand that VT misses on recruits, I didn't have time to open that barrel and look at the ones you mentioned and any others from 2020. But for the recruits that VT got, is it not advantageous to have those schools much closer by to evaluate that talent more often, and at a much cheaper price than others?
Also, I picked Kansas because they're furthest away of Duke, UK, UNC and KU 😂
And again, I look at UNC's budget for that year. The main cost difference is coaching salary. That was about it. UNC is a 25 min drive from RDU and has similar advantages for travel to games as VT does. Past the money, we know the difference (cache) they have in recruiting, but does that mean UNC is just severely underspending on their program, or are others really just massively overspending? (I lean to the overspending. K was paid $12.4M for 2021 season based on tax returns. That's nuts).
It would also be nice if these numbers had some more substance to them about what actually goes into.
Thanks for the lengthy response. I appreciate it.
