I do recall a 9-9 UConn team that finished in a 3 way tie for 9th place

in the Big East (#9-11) getting in and winning a National Championship about 15 years ago. Granted, that team got hot in the Big East tournament and won in MSG to get an auto bid and actually got a 3 seed out of it. But I agree, I'm glad Miami got a chance to show what they could do against competition. Also agree with you about sub .500 power conference teams.
