..you have an issue with BYU's rating (I do not) then the beneficiaries are the schools that play them - NET's weight in the selection process is in your Quad opponents - so it's being used to determine your resume. You actually used NET to lay out a GREAT case for why, despite being 8th in the NET, BYU doesn't have the resume to be a 2 seed - and the case you made about BYU is why I like the NET far better than RPI because it comes very close to matching predictive metrics (On a neutral court right now BYU would be favored over all but 11 or so teams in the country) but it is used as a resume evaluation tool of your opponents. The idea that you can schedule bad a solid teams and absolutely destroy them as a way to game a system implies you are good enough to do that - and if you are good enough to do that that's a pretty good sign you are a very good team. There is no comparison to RPI which can be gamed through scheduling and where your actual results matter far less - if you were going by RPI right now you're looking at the Mountain West as possibly the best league in the country and a 2-3 bid IVY league. Using RPI to measure your opponents is a real crapshoot that can make some mid-major leagues look like a P5 league.
