I became a big Senators fan when Ted Williams became manager in 1969

That was the only year the expansion Senators had a winning season (86-76). But Bob Short was one of the worst baseball owners in MLB history. He bought the team in 1969 and moved the team out of DC three years later. I remember in Texas, Rangers had the overall #1 pick in the draft and selected a HS pitcher named David Clyde. Short insisted that Clyde skip the minors and pitch for the Rangers as soon as he could. It ruined the kid's career. I'll never forgive Bob Short for moving the team to Texas.
