These are no longer student athletes but paid professionals making much more than most on the board or in the stands. With the portal having thousands of players change schools each year, you no longer have players that care about the school as much. Sure there may be a few that really love the school and want to stay there for their full college experience, but most are going for the $$$ and exposure. So because of that, the fans that are rooting for their team want results much like pro fans.
