In the last two close losses...

Neo has - rushed shots early in the shot clock when we needed to bleed time - missed critical free throws - failed to close out on D against a winning 3 pointer - cost VT a chance at a game winning shot by throwing a weak inbounds pass - dribbled the ball off his own leg on a critical inbounds play - allowed a shorter player to score over him via an inbounds lob play There's no doubt he is a talented player. VT is clearly better having him on the roster. But he is not mentally or physically tough enough, yet, to contend with quicker, more physical, more athletic American players. Teams are consistently attacking him on crucial possessions because they know he's VT's weakest perimeter defender, and struggles to keep his man from getting to the rim. And as film continues to accrue, his draft stock reflects all this. He has gone from a projected fringe lottery pick to near the bottom of the first round in ESPN's latest mock draft. He clearly has the skillset to *potentially* become a solid NBA player. And the NBA does tend to overdraft based on potential. So the money may be there to convince him to turn pro after one college season. But ball doesn't lie, and expect teams at the college level to continue to target him, and exploit his weaknesses when the games are on the line, until he proves that he can consistently overcome those weaknesses. He is not there now and may not get there this season. And right now, I question whether he should be on the floor the next time VT finds itself in a photo finish game. In those situations, you need players who are steady ballhandlers, good defenders, and good free throw shooters. Neo has not yet shown that he excels at any of those areas.

His size would not create mismatches in the NBA. He struggles witn on-ball.
