Haven't seen UCLA play but was looking at their stats
and WOW. They will be darn near impossible to upset at home. I hope we can just win against Cal-Poly and the whomever we play in the loser bracket finals. We would have been better served to be a middle of the pack 3 seed. Tough draw.

UCLA is no doubt a tough draw but they haven’t been playing their best…
Entering the tournament. Beating them twice will be a monumental task as no team has beaten them twice this year and they have only lost 4 weekend games on the season, but they haven’t been a juggernaut down the stretch. In the last 21 games they have played since mid/late April, here is a rundown of some positives for us: - lost their star pitcher to arm fatigue and he won’t be pitching in the regional. - They have only scored in double digits 4 times and none in last 9 games. - Only have 2 wins by more than 5 runs. - They are only 4-2 in their last two home series and one of the series was against a weak team (CS Sacramento) in which they scored the same amount of runs across the whole series. - The home series before their last two was against Minnesota and while they swept them, it wasn’t particularly dominant…winning 4-2, 6-4 and 5-2. - One of their star hitters (Will Gasparino) has 19 home runs on the year but has only hit 2 in his last 17 games. All that is to say they are definitely not invincible and even though we likely won’t pull out two wins against them (maybe not even one), I fully expect us to give them tough game(s) and could certainly surprise them if we play with the type of confidence we have down the stretch.

Ucla was taken to 14 innings by Rutgers
We won 2/3 vs Rutgers. UCLA early season was beating same SEC teams in Arlington that crushed us. But I don’t see them as a massively tough offense. With a good outing one of our top 3 starters can keep us right in it IMO We e played GT & UNC so we’ve seen similar teams. Don’t think UCLA is as good as either of them honestly ** Edited by hokiepro at 5/28/2026, 9:37:57 AM
