Taking a deeper dive into our offense, below are some stats that highlight a few sore spots. One of our biggest issues is hitting with 2-outs and more specifically, hitting with 2-outs and runners in scoring position. Another area to watch will be our performance against LHP which is currently lagging considerably behind where we are at against RHP. Hitting vs. LHP/RHP • Team vs. RHP: 284 pa, .286 avg, .882 ops • Team vs. LHP: 187 pa, .225 avg, .713 ops • Top vs. RHP: Grube (30 pa, .560 avg, 1.621 ops), French (24 pa, .357 avg, 1.411 ops), Ball (31 pa, .370 avg, .970 ops) • Worst vs. RHP: Cooke (30 pa, .045 avg, .321 ops), Gates (29 pa, .174 avg, .658 ops), Gibson (12 pa, .333 avg, .667 ops) • Top vs. LHP: Locurto (19 pa, .400 avg, 1.193 ops), Ball (21 pa, .368 avg, 1.165 ops), Gates (14 pa, .308 avg, .896 ops) • Worst vs. LHP: French (7 pa, .000 avg, .000 ops), Cooke (15 pa, .077 avg, .210 ops), Grube (22 pa, .111 avg, .311 ops) • Notes: French and Grube have some really big LHP/RHP differentials as they both are hammering RHP but struggling mightily against LHP. Gates is interesting in that he has reverse splits and has fared far better against LHP than RHP. Ball is one of the few hitters that hits both LHP and RHP equally well with good productivity. Hitting w/ RISP vs. w/o RISP • Team with RISP: 162 pa, .203 avg, .669 ops • Opponent with RISP: 168 pa, .344 avg, 1.046 ops • Team without RISP: 309 pa, .287 avg, .883 ops • Opponent without RISP: 321 pa, .270 avg, .714 ops • Top with RISP: Daniel (13 pa, .375 avg, 1.083 ops), Grube (15 pa, .333 avg, .983 ops), Petrich (16 pa, .267 avg, .917 ops) • Worst with RISP: Cooke (16 pa, .000 avg, .133 ops), Gibson (11 pa, .111 avg, .293 ops), Gates (17 pa, .083 avg, .377 ops) • Notes: We are hitting decently with RISP when there is 0 outs (26 pa, .350 avg, 1.100 ops) or 1 out (76 pa, .264 avg, .810 ops), but our 2-out hitting with RISP is absolutely abysmal (60 pa, .080 avg, .333 ops). Hitting w/ 2-Outs • Team with 2-Outs: 125 pa, .147 avg, .522 ops • Opponent with 2-Outs: 153 pa, .267 avg, .876 ops • Top with 2-Outs: French (11 pa, .286 avg, 1.260 ops), Daniel (9 pa, .333 avg, 1.000 ops), Hughes (13 pa, .250 avg, .724 ops) • Worst with 2-Outs: Petrich (15 pa, .000 avg, .000 ops), Cooke (14 pa, .077 avg, .220 ops), Lutterman (15 pa, .000 avg, .267 ops) • Notes: Not only are our opponents outperforming us in 2-out hitting but our .147 avg and .522 ops pales in comparison to both our 0-out (165 pa, .304 avg, .921 ops) and 1-out hitting (181 pa, .307 avg, .927 ops). The fact that our 0-out and 1-out hitting are almost identical but is ~ .400 ops higher than our 2-out hitting is a real sore spot that needs to improve dramatically.
