Should VT look at Birmingham Southern players
This team no longer has a University but refuses to lose. A team with real heart. Homerun in bottom of 9th to advance to Championship.

Find a Ben Watson in there?

It’s a great story and I hope they do well, but they are
a long way from winning the championship. They lost their first game before winning on the walk off HR yesterday. They have to win 3 straight to advance to the finals then win a best 2 out of 3 series for the championship. I linked the bracket below. I followed Lynchburg during the D3 CWS last year and watched most of their games online. Very few pitchers if any were touching 90 mph which makes it hard to evaluate the hitters. Obviously with players like Ben Watson at VT this year there are players that can make the jump, but it’s really hard to evaluate them unless they have played well in a more competitive summer league. I’m pulling for Lynchburg to repeat as national champions, but I hope Birmingham Southern can make it to the finals.

Good points. BS has had a good program for years but not D1 for sure
It is sad that BS is closing. 15-20 years ago they had strong baseball and basketball programs. Had good coaches who ran good programs and camps.

Ironically for the 4 or 5 years BS did compete at the DI level, I think
the baseball team had a winning season ever year. I'm pretty sure BS competed in the Big South which may (or may not) have made it easier for the program to obtain success. Part of me is a little surprised BS chose not to continue competing at the DI level in baseball when the school decided to drop back down to DIII.

Coach Scoop ran a good program
My son went to several baseball & basketball camps when they were Div 1 in both sports
