Don't forget that baseball is a strange sport
Bad teams will play like champions one game, then suck the next. It happens in baseball far more often than football or basketball.
I remember a statement about the MLB which said teams usually win a third of their games, lose a third of their games, and what happens in the other 3rd determines if they make the post season. (or words to that effect)
