As a longtime fan and contributor, I have lost a significant portion of my interest and passion for men’s football and basketball due to the professionalization of those sports and the utter chaos paying players and agent influence has brought. I suspect this will be a trend across many fan bases and hurt interest broadly, making TV even more important to revenue creation. To me this is very sad, and I hope some sensible rules and process can be brought to the current mess. Probably will require Congressional action if some elected leader can envision and get support for a solution that reduces the chaos and brings a degree of fairness to both schools and athletes.
