The old rules favored the wealthy programs.
The new rules level the playing field so the non-blue bloods can compete at the highest level, but the fact is the entire game is now awash in cash. So to the team that wins it all, I say congrats, your school rented the best team this year. Maybe one year soon, VT will rent the best team in the land.

Handoff scheme
Where the running back takes the ball at a standstill position really puzzles me. He’s starting his run with zero momentum. Why not have RB in backfield and take a few steps to build up a head of steam?

Thanks for the perspective
I only saw the stat line of four PFs and two TOs in six minutes and thought wow, that’s pretty bad. Was actually wondering if this is how rookies typically get treated, by the opposing team being overly physical to draw fouls and the refs happy to call the foul on the rookie.

It’s ESPN, not the schools
that are profiting. Most school athletic depts were in the red even before NIL. I have yet to hear anyone suggest that ESPN send a slice of their billions of annual revenue to a NIL pool. I think that would be very fair. When people talk about the multi billion dollar industry that is built on the backs of the athletes, what they are really referring to is the gargantuan TV contracts.

It was a catch.
Ball is firmly in Felton’s hands and his rearend was in bounds when he landed. Why doesn’t the ACC at least make a statement that the review booth got it wrong. Kind of like their statement after the Duke @ UVA hoops game a couple seasons ago. Wouldn’t change the outcome, but at least everyone including Miami would know they got away with one.

Good VT pub during Manningcast last night
Bruce Arians was guest and they talked a little about Arians time as VT QB in 72-74 and showed a few pictures. Arians highly complimented Jimmy Sharp, I believe he even called Sharp the best coach he’s known! I don’t go back that far… anyone from that era agree or disagree with Coach Arians?

Exactly.
They need to stop calling them bowl games and start calling them exhibition games, which is what they’ve become (except for the CFP games). Maryland’s coach knows the score: "You almost look at this game kind of like a preseason game going into next year," Maryland coach Mike Locksley said.
