Went to that game
I went to the UMBC/UVA game in Charlotte and still have the ticket stub. It is still to this day unreal to me that Tony Bennett didn't get that read offense UMBC ran that day stopped in the 2nd half. PG penetrated to the top of the key and read the defense and distributed the ball and guys made shots and they just kept running it. Completely unreal being there.

Road
Miami is for the season...a loss means we would have to rattle off 4 straight with 2 of those being on the road against Top 25 teams. Despite that Clemson win this team hasn't proven they can go on a run like that.

Schutt
FSU pretty much eliminated Schutt from the game. They got into his chest and ran over him. He has improved defensively but it seems like a lot of teams iso him when he is on the floor. After those two straight possessions where they scored on Schutt and they subbed Pasha in it seemed like the game changed from there on.

Double teams
NC State and Duke we never rotated anyone behind the double teams. I watch Illinois/Michigan State and the first thing right out of the gate they see a double team when driving to the basket and a guard rotates behind the double team they find him kick it out for an open look. Frustrating when you watch other teams execution and then ours.

Right/Wrong
Right: we became a competitive team again
1. Hammond has developed into a weapon and is able to attack. Last year he was more stop and go because we didn't have size. Hammond steals proven to be big in many games.
2. Shutte has been a much better defender this season.
3. Hansberry has been a welcome addition. Centerpiece of the offense many games.
4. Bedford another welcome addition and is our best all around guard.
5. Neo had some great games early and distributed the ball very well.
6. Getting Tobi back has been big in terms of rebounding on both ends.
7. Gurdak has had some big moments.
Wrong:
1. Shutte needs more minutes and should be shooting 4 or 5 3's every night.
2. Bedford minutes have increased but he should have seen more minutes in early ACC matchups especially closing games.
3. Letting Neo close games. His shot selection late has lacked. Which also begs the question of what roles players have. When I saw Sincere Jones firing off 4 3's in the Wake game I started questioning what roles perimeter shooters have. And apparently there are not roles concerning shot selection.
4. Hammond has been fantastic but leaving him in a game in defensive possessions to close games is a mistake to me. We have other options that make sense defensively. Wake is the first game that comes to mind but there were others.
5. Losing our best defender in Tyler.
6. Hansberry FT shooting.
7. Gurdak, Dorn, and Hansberry fouls. Hansberry has had too many games where he is in foul trouble early. Its the big's though so it's not exactly unexpected with the way ACC officiating. Still not sure how Gurdak wasn't called for some of the screens in the UVA game because he blew some guys up.

Split GT/Duke
Split GT/Duke and then go 5-3 to close. Even though we play less ACC in conference games I think 10 wins is still the tournament requirement. With 5 of the last 8 on the road that seems like a very unlikely scenario given how bad we play on the road.

Play until the horn sounds
It certainly feels like a mental problem. We've long since been a kill the clock team and sometimes far too early in games we slow down, hold the ball and then the offense stalls. Or we run the "no foul defense" which is essentially not defending anyone.

Chasing it
The problem it creates for us is that we are going to likely be chasing it all year long. With the way the schedule shakes out with 5 of the last 8 on the road if we do not get some breathing room by winning the next 3 it becomes are more unlikely we make a good run at the NCAA tournament.
