Donations

Can you direct me to the site where I can donate? Both to softball and WBB if you have that. I sent a donation a few months ago but I think it went thru the Hokie Club. Is that not the best way?

One example of a small school success in the big leagues --

Amelia Hassett - recruited by KB out of basically a community college in Florida. Joined KB at Kentucky and this year led the SEC in 3 pointers and got drafted to the WNBA. She was cut, but you just never know the talent that exists in these small schools. ** Edited by jlrlaw at 5/1/2026, 11:21:00 AM

Great news!

And she has a much better chance of making a final roster with the mandated 12 player roster, plus 2 add'l development player slots.

The way I understood it...

Is that Georgia has already been selected for the Opals, but that the 12 person team is for the Olympic team.

Here's a list of the 26 and an article

https://www.fiba.basketball/olympics/women/2024/news/aust... Bec Allen, Georgia Amoore, Zitina Aokuso, Amy Atwell, Chloe Bibby, Isobel Borlase, Keely Froling, Darcee Garbin, Cayla George, Shyla Heal, Lauren Jackson, Alice Kunek, Tess Madgen, Ezi Magbegor, Anneli Maley, Jade Melbourne, Lauren Nicholson, Steph Reid, Maddi Rocci, Lauren Scherf, Alex Sharp, Alanna Smith, Marianna Tolo, Kirsty Wallace, Sami Whitcomb

Possible but chances are fairly slim.

There are 26 players right now and that has to be whittled down to 12. Most everyone is a professional bball player, either WNBA or WNBL or both. I think Georgia's the only college player. But she got invited for a reason; hopefully because Sandy Brondello, the coach, likes what she sees.

Yes but unfortunately still at risk of being waived...

The Lynx have 13 on their roster but one contract is temporarily suspended allowing Juhazs (sp?) to finish out her play in Italy. When she arrives, someone has to go, to get the team to the allowable 12 players. ** Edited by jlrlaw at 5/15/2024, 7:55:42 AM ** Edited by jlrlaw at 5/15/2024, 8:41:11 AM

Personally, I'd love to see 3 more players added. Not sure we want 15 total

Matilda talked about being more versatile in her game. I watched a little film on her from Sweden before she came here to play at MSU. She is much more versatile than she was allowed to be last year. Same with Carys. Hoping for a versatile power forward to go with Rose, maybe 6'2"+, who can play 3-5. Plus, a 6'4"+ athletic veteran player who can play 4&5 and maybe even more versatile than that. I love to see bigs handle the ball more. That's the trend I think now.

Interesting game in the bubble. Agree with your comments.

Love the energy on the sideline by Coach Duffy. Curious to know why Cam Taylor transferred from Marquette to UVA.

It's not unprecedented. Stephanie Soares did this last year.

It's called draft and stash. She won't be paid for 2024 season (assuming she signs) but rather agree to a suspension for her period of rehab. The team will gain rights to her, and be able to buy a year to assess their needs for 2025. She can also not sign and not be beholden to anyone.
