Conference Realignment Board

Good point on Arizona and it is the 14th largest state.
Utah is a bit smaller and #30. Colorado is also intriguing and a great rival to Nebraska. I tend to think the Big will want a west time zone quad of 6 schools either way. Big football literally all day long filling every time slot with quality matchups.

I don't think it made sense to add them yet and that is why they didn't.
In the current model it would have reduced the payouts per school and that is not going to be allowed. When the ACC GOR goes away they will be easy to pluck at that time and the conference would renegotiate a new deal with the new added east teams. If the better available east teams get snatched up by the SEC than it could limit an expansion to 24 because of the financial implications. I still believe their path to being the top conference will be by going to 24.

If I'm the Big 10 I'm going to add 2 more from the west to creat a 6 team
division out west and then come over to the southeast to add 4 teams and create a new east division in a new 24 team league. I'm thinking the 2 west teams are Stanford and Cal and the Big will then own California and add 2 very prestigious academic universities. I would then target FSU, Clemson, UNC, and VT in the east and pair them with Maryland and Penn State. Round robin play in the Big 10 East would make for must see TV and be a very competitive TV draw versus the SEC. I think the Big 10 would have the best TV deal out there and be the most national conference. It would also be the strongest academically. That is a dream scenario for VT and I would rather that versus the SEC. Why VT versus UVA you may ask? Because VT is a much much better in football in every metric. UVA cannot compete in that East division with any consistency and VT can. A VT with Big 10 affiliation will recruit at another level and Lane will be sold out every weekend. UVA would also recruit better but be sitting at the bottom of the conference most years with Scott Stadium half empty most Saturdays. That does not help the Big 10 and this is after all about football. I know there are those who think the SEC will not allow the Big 10 to grab those schools but they do not play god here. I think the Big offers more and can one up the mighty SEC.

So if we grab 3.5 more boards and tie SC in rebounding for the game we gain
3.5 more possessions and win the game by a few. It appeared to me they did a little better job crashing the boards especially early in the game. On nights when shots are not falling we have to find a way to win with rebounding and D.

Question for the basketball gurus.
The past few years VT has struggled to create offense out of the 3 with any consistency. Is that a product of just not having strong offensive players there or in our system are the opportunities just more limited at that position? Schematically are there things we can do to get some easy looks early to get that player some confidence.
Alleyne was obviously not an offensive force but I think everyone was expecting more from Maddox. It seems that we are going to need more production from the 3 this year to make up for the loss of production at the 4 and 5.
Thanks
