Posting History (32)

Don’t have the pitching talent…

to compete with top-tier teams. That’s been the case for a long time.

Offense is just out of sync…

Seldom do you see Drones take the snap, hang in the pocket and make a throw on time. Doesn’t have any pocket awareness at all. Would Pop be any better??

Horrible..:

the absolute worse thing for a parent. God Bless

Delane was good at VT..:

he just didn’t move to LSU and turn on the juice!

Pry has struggled with the clock his..:

entire time as HC here. It’s really inexcusable. That’s one reason for his poor record in one score games. It’s baffling to me that he can’t get that right!

In my mind…

we as a fanbase, should be concerned that VT pitching gave up 31 runs in three games to an ACC opponent. I think it’s reasonable to expect better pitching performance. I say all this fully realizing that these are young men busting their tails trying to win for their teammates and school. Tons of respect for that.

I think there is a level of…

frustration amongst the fanbase that Hokie baseball doesn’t have the horses to compete at a high level in the ACC.

Thanks for the promising stats…

Szefc and staff have done a good job recruiting & developing the roster of position players…no doubt. Just seems to me that starting pitching is a bit of an issue when it comes to consistently challenging in their division and making the NCAA post season tournament / WS.

I know there is always discussion…

on this board each season regarding what VT baseball has to do to compete consistently with the upper echelon teams in the ACC. What I’ve taken from those discussions is there is a significant gap in talent between the best pitching VT recruits and what NC, WF, FSU & Clemson recruit.

I fear the team…

may be headed down that annual path where their lack of top tier starting pitching begins to be exposed.

I’d have to think Payne..:

gets the boot. I remember him when he played at Louisville…good player.

We are a team that has to rely…

on the outside shot. If they’re off it spells trouble. Consistency and team chemistry are issues this season as well.

Why is that?

Poteat can play more minutes no problem! ** Edited by fosterD1 at 2/12/2024, 7:11:20 PM

He should start….

much more physical player. No disrespect towards Kidd at all. Kidd just isn’t a physical guy. I like Poteat. He’ll make it harder for guys going to the basket…they’ll think twice before trying it! ** Edited by fosterD1 at 2/12/2024, 7:09:56 PM

Poteat should be starting…

He has a much more physical presence. Better rebounder and scorer. Cattoor Pedulla Nickel Beran Poteat Their best five in my opinion

The TO was bad but the effort…

after the poor pass was worse. I think Pedulla is relied on too much.

Did the ex DeMatha coach…

leave just before Rice? If so that’s probably why he left

VT doesn’t have…

a big time, athletic scorer. You look at the teams they’ve lost to and all of them have at least one guy who can score in just about any fashion. I had thought Collins might have been that type of guy when he came into the program but he’s just not a scorer. Rice was a guy I thought might also be a go to scorer but he’s gone. Pedulla & Catoor are good players but neither are consistent, go to scorers. I fear our boys are going to struggle the rest of the way. CMY needs to conjure up some magic!

When you put the ball on the ground…

after a rebound you just make yourself very vulnerable to a steal. Too many big men fall victim to this.

Hokies aren’t shooting it well…

but FAU is good. This was a tough matchup even if VT is hitting their shots.

I know very little about baseball recruiting…

but would I be incorrect in saying we are not able to attract top-tier pitching to Blacksburg??
