Pry's termination (and possibly more) is just one small step toward addressing the many problems of a struggling football program and a diseased athletics department at VT. How does the presentation in Dr. Sands' statement differ from the one that Whit delivered to the BOV a few weeks ago? Death by PowerPoint presentations will not solve the problems. Plus, the current internal resources will not offer a fresh and creative perspective. VT needs a different set of eyes on the processes, operations - eveything! A systemic house cleaning needs to occur and remove all ghosts lurking in the hallways from the Beamer era. They exist and influence. They need to be gone. Hold on - Hokies faithful - this will not be a quick fix. The hole that has been dug will take time and significant financial resources to dig out. This is one small step. Steven Covey offered this when dealing with change: “The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.” New thinking. New approach.
