He would survive. 6-7 would blow away next years

expectations and would likely be Pry’s best coaching job in his time at VT. ** Edited by VTHokieTJ86 at 1/5/2025, 9:54:43 PM

Minnesota was down several players as well. Not the same quantity as tech

it they were missing several key players especially up front. So we can’t pretend we should have seen this coming when this is an issue common across CFB. I think most of the frustration is the fact that this is Pry’s mess and it appears that he is somewhat getting a pass for a very poor coaching job in the bowl game simply because we were down players. When the reason we were down so many players is because of the mess he made. And let’s not forget that we didn’t exceed or come close to meeting the expectations that many thought were achievable including Pry.

Not like he can come out and say the truth. He can’t say we have a long

road ahead and the we did not meet expectations this year and that finishing .500 next year is a long shot. If he admits the truth he is admitting that he is not performing all that well.

When you become accustomed to mediocrity being the ceiling it is hard to

care much about losing any game. The program is in a bad place in all aspects and it’s hard to expect much.

What’s not to follow. Stop complaining about too many bowl games

Find something else to do and don’t worry about it. I don’t see what is hard to follow.

no one forces anyone to watch. please move on. I don’t like Soap Operas

therefore I don’t watch but I don’t constantly B&M about it like so many on this board. Just find something else to watch. ** Edited by VTHokieTJ86 at 1/3/2025, 10:17:29 PM

We are slightly less mediocre than they are. They are a 7-5 team

You are what your record says ** Edited by VTHokieTJ86 at 1/3/2025, 9:27:31 PM

Because they joined the ACC which is a power conference

Even though it is garbage so it’s easy to look better than you are as evident by their being destroyed when they played a good team. Also pay for pay isn’t a new concept, just the fact that it’s legal.

I think the idea of our fans is living in the past. There was a time

when we were a force, but no longer. We are perhaps slightly above average. The game day atmosphere sucks today. The students are gone by half and we pipe music in all game to make noise. Comparing todays fans to 20 years ago is not even close.

I would say that South Carolina was more deserving.

They are on a roll and have quite a few quality wins. Definitely more deserving than Miami.

Wife wanted to put the Christmas tree up today. Against the spirit and

advice I’ve read here today, I didn’t throw out my Hokie ornaments and found places for them on the tree.

I don’t see it. I don’t think we can afford it and i think this is what we

are. We’ve been this way for better part of a decade and we don’t have the support system that others have. The older fanbase is tired and the newer group doesn’t care.

This is a loser mentality that highlights the overall demise

of Virginia Tech football. We are what we are. The stadium isn’t loud, the stadium has a max exodus at halftime(even when winning), our revenues are not competitive with top programs.

You are assuming we are still one of the top fan bases.

At one point absolutely, but comparing game experience from today to 10 years to 20 years ago. We have taken several steps back.

Pry lost the Miami game before it was taken from us. The fake field goal

was an awful decision with a terrible play call. We had the momentum and Miami was lost and that play turned the game. The refs may have worked against us, but it was Pry’s fault that we were in that position.

I’m no FSU fan, but no team goes 13-0 with a quitter culture

Everyone said that these games don’t mean anything and many players are following. I disagree with players opting out. I think the game has been ruined with opt outs, NIL, and the playoff. Also where did I say they were playing at full strength. I said 0 opt outs not 0 players out. Injuries happen to all teams as well as transfers. But typically players leaving for the portal are doing so due to lack of playing time. The original post impkied that UGA was playing nearly as down as FSU and that is no where near the case.

Kirby was the one complaining about what happened to FSU.

He said that they needed to fix the opt out problem and that FSU wasn’t even close to the team that they were in season. It was most of the starters….UGA was not even close to being as depleted.

Maybe, they are a good team and let’s not pretend that this years

Alabama team is anywhere near the previous teams. No where near as nasty or as hungry.

If Alabama is that much better why didn’t they woodshed Texas

common opponents say that they are fairly close. Alabama 20 Texas 19 TCU 17 Texas 10

I think i saw that TCU beat 5 ranked teams this year. Alabama had several

close games and nearly lost to a bad Texas A&M team. And the LSU team that beat them was beaten badly by Georgia. Same thing for Tennessee.
