Posting History (58)

Call me crazy but I think we’d have scored more than 9 with Bowen as OC

We won’t win with Drones throwing 35 passes. Seems like Monty is coaching waiting for his passing QB to come to campus when the coaching staff needs to win now. Disappointed in the number of drop backs today. Will that change?

Anybody else baffled at the NFL projections for Sellers?

By my calculations he made one good pass all game? Amazing athlete. Not an NFL QB IMHO.

Ruined? Seems that way. Greed? Not really.

If I could double (or more) my salary compared to my current job I have had for over 20 years, I probably would move on and wish my beloved colleagues good bye. We all would. Can’t blame them. Hopefully fans will revolt and reign it in. I have no interest in giving money to an overpaid 20 year old. I would rather my football team be mediocre or bad. I love the Hokies but won’t contribute to this mess.

A “What would you do?” Fan question…

Went to the game yesterday with the wife, who is a State grad. Sat in a section of a few hundred NCSU fans and maybe 4 other Hokies. Two of those Hokies were guys that looked student aged, or thereabouts. Throughout the game they would stand up (completely alone) and hold 3 fingers up whenever a three went up for us. And if it went in would celebrate. Of course they sat quickly on a miss. On about the 5th 3, they started turning around to the State fans around us holding up the 3 fingers. The whole section was a completely seated section of just routine State fans, so they stood out like a sore thumb to all. Behavior well suited to the student section at the Cassell, but to me, I keep it low key as a visitor. Well……During the stretch were Tech pulled ahead at the end, they did/said something that got 2-3 grown adult State fans (including someone their Grandma’s age) to be SUPER angry, stand and start yelling back, saying “cheer for your team but don’t effin (unintelligible)…….” I think the young men might have realized they had gone too far, not sure, because they were back seated arguing to just watch the game. But it was too late. The State fans called for the usher, who came and promptly threw them out. They seemed to take this as a badge of honor as on the way out, they just said, “SCOREBOARD!” to the usher and everyone else. This morning as I reflected on it, I kind of wished I had gone and spoken to them early in the game about staying classy, being a gracious guest, and reading the room. I wonder what I would have said. They sat about 5 rows directly in front of me. What would you have done? Dispensed advice? If so, what would you say? And at what point? Quietly wished they would stop embarrassing you and your University? Join in?

We finally have a handful of playmakers.

Makes all the difference in the world…. And makes coaches look a heck of a lot smarter. Happy for the team to see some positive results.

I can’t blame them. It’s the only good thing we do right now. But frankly

Sandman to me is getting embarrassing because the team is so bad. Say your prayers?!? Really?!! I suppose they are prayers of thanksgiving for the easy road win. ** Edited by VTC at 9/23/2023, 10:52:49 PM

If you are solely interested in feats of strength, speed and verticality,

then I get this take….. (even though it is total weak sauce and ill-timed). But if you enjoy team basketball, grit, toughness, heart, fun, family, shot-making, or watching the second best Hokie athletic team ever to take the arena, then give them you are missing out. Plus watching Amoore drain step-back threes from 28’ or watching OSU’s Mikesell’s quick release doesn’t look too different than a man to me. Give them your time and you will fall in love with this team.

My first ever wrestling post and first ever live wrestling event attended.

I got to watch yesterday sitting next to a former NCSU wrestler from the late 90s-early 00s. I didn’t know him. He just sat down beside me. He was super nice and explained a lot to me as a new fan of the sport. It was super loud in there. A fantastic environment, but Hokies represented. Interestingly enough, I’ve been to a bunch of State games as I live and work there and the wife is a Pack alum. I have just recently realized that you can’t really hear the consonants when the crowd chants “WOOOLLFF. ……PAAAAACK!” So it sounds like “ULLLLL……. AAAAAAHHHHH”. LOL! But I’m a new wrestling fan for life now. GO HOKIES!
