Agree

The defense is my biggest concern for this year. I think you are right in that criticism is headed Pry’s way and it might get uncomfortable.

My assessment

I think people are under estimating how good Morris was last year for UVA. He was clutch in them winning most of those close games. That being said, they probably will still have a strong season again this year even with a lesser QB. They again get a free ride on the schedule. They play 7 of the bottom 10 preseason ranked ACC teams plus Norfolk State and Delaware. Of the top teams they only play SMU. We play Miami, Clemson and SMU on the road. Doesn’t seem fair

Good post

Agree with your assessment. Young is a decent coach but no where near the higher level we see at other schools. To me his ceiling is middle of the pack in the ACC. That being said, he has 2 things going for him to keep his job 1) he won the ACC championship a few years ago when most fans thought that to be near impossible and 2) many Tech fans are lukewarm to basketball as compared to football and are willing to continue to accept mediocrity, where if this was football it would not be tolerated .

Assessment

I think your assessment is a fair take on the Hoos for next year. The part I think you may have miscalculated is the value of Chandler Morrris. To me he was the key to your season and without him, UVA would have been middle of the pack. In my assessment he was the most valuable QB in the ACC last year. I don’t see either of the QB’s you all signed in the portal coming close to Morris.

Agree

Yet each time he stays in the game. Should have been benched long ago

Yep

Agreed. And they will probably say after the game that Rutgers ran some plays they had not seen before

I remember

Yes I was there. I remember that stadium. It was a strange venue. I believe it was 1979 if I’m not mistaken

Strock

Actually is was Jerry Claiborne who was starting Bob German over Strock. When Coffey came in 1971 Strock became the QB for the next two years
