Great advice - Did this last year.
Local HVAC Supply had no problem selling me a replacement cap + a spare. Remember to discharge the old cap by shorting (carefully) across the terminals.

A simplified version of your solution (IMHO)
Put the tape on the level and mark holes. Easier to make sure the tape marks are level when transferring to wall.

Prayers for your family. Cancer is brutal and relentless
Lost my brother(51 yrs old) to cancer 8 years ago. The only solace was that he was at home, surrounded by family when he passed. I hope your family can find strength in each other during this difficult time.

Great match. The best since 1974.
To my mind, 1974 had more overall star power(Cruyff, Neeskins, Beckenbauer, Mueller, Maier). Fun to watch the difference in play between today and back then. Less "dramatic" reaction to fouls and it was legal to deliberately play the ball back to your own keeper. Highlights linked below

Way back in time âĻ
Being even with the second defender(keeper included) was considered offside. It changed sometime in the early 90âs to the current rule. This small change in the rules was made to increase goal scoring opportunities.
