He was on some podcast recently and basically said Franklin can't coach. He can recruit , but needs top flight coordinators, and that he leaves a mess. He comes with "stuff" . I will say I get a bit of Buzz feeling with Franklin, but I've never heard anything that he did anything inappropriate at Vandy or PSU.

The coaching world is very vagabond to start with, but this is no longer a destination due to the $$ disparity. Ryan Day just got 12.5M, Kirby gets 13M. I didn't do the math, but that's more than our whole staff I believe. I know Dabo gets 11M , but Clemson is unique for non P2 schools. If Pry had been more successful early on, we'd be in danger of losing him.

I have friends with connections to that Northwestern school that they played and they were talking up Brand before the game, but said he signed as an ATH for Tech. I hadn't seen any mention of anything beyond QB for him

And yes I said this because of my name, lol... but seriously, we have someone on staff that has been a big whistle in college. Yes lower level, but the machinations are the same. Why isn't Quinn at least helping him with some of the clock management etc.

Follow me here . Pry has a vision like you say, and when they run it against themselves in practice, it clicks because RBs gash our Second Team D, even in 1s vs 1s. This allows our WRs to find openings,Wells looks good etc. Then you open against ODU and we look competent offensively, not great but nothing that can't be explained away as first game type stuff. Then the struggle gets real and Wells gets hurt. The other part is you can't really see what Drones is about with a yellow jersey. How many carries does he get in a practice ? His strengths over Wells aren't as easily seen in a don't touch the QB environment. So sure he may get same number of reps with Wells in Spring/Early Fall - but they aren't equal.

We weren't wanted by the ACC, barely wanted by the Big East. Why do people think even if we were back to our historical levels, we'd be wanted by SEC/B10 ? Yes we have great fanbase, but those have never translated to high ratings. Tech has had 12 games since 2013 that had over 2M viewers. B10/SEC looks for 4M+ viewers. We just don't move the needle. Never have. To those conferences we are Purdue, Kentucky - sure scrappy , can upset people, but don't really add $$ or eyeballs. They already have enough of those teams. The whole B12 is made up of those type of schools now. We aren't special , never have been except for 4 months with MV7.

Glad to see NCAA go this route. USA Softball did it this year and NFHS just announced it for this upcoming school year as well. All major associations now in sync, which is a rarity in this sport.

I had two kids down there this week and he threw to BP in game like settings to the older kids.

Most umpires aren't that egotistic about their calls when it comes to their partners (sure some are). Fans/Coaches...different thing. They want to get the call right. I have no idea who views those replays, but there are plenty of times when one umpire has come in with direct knowledge and told calling ump that is their call is wrong and worked to correct it.

Nothing in the VT Feed is new. He was let go right as Glenn left. Notice nothing posted about Rudolph going or the staff changes today. They don't take down his old stuff.

I highly doubt Pry didn't want him to stay, but either way , it's a real bad look that will be used against us. I wish the kid well, he was a great representative of the program, and that's why it stings.

He was our leading receiver and a captain, and he wants out. That tells me Pry couldn't sell him the O was going to get better. If I'm a school and competing against VT for offensive talent (portal or HS) pretty sure I'm going to bring this up with those targets. Chapman, while it hurts, can be explained away a bit easier (3rd DB on team).

We all said he "got" VT and was doing great in that department.. Problem is he stunk at being a HC. Maybe he'll get better (I doubt it), but in terms of the program , think he sold it well. He had to follow up the "sell" with a decent product. He didn't , so now the selling doesn't look as great.

I see Slovis is entering portal (don't care), but he was in portal last year. I thought it was a 1 time use transfer. Is is true free agency that players could play 4 yrs at 4 different schools and no sitting ?

I see people talking about us getting people out of portal , or how many we should get, but what's surprised me is I don't see any of our roster headed to the portal yet. Figure by now some conversations have been had.
