Congress probably needs to do something, but fear the product is irreparably ruined without a collective bargaining agreement. Not sure how that would even work on the amateur level.

Of course they'll probably offer it to either Sanchez or Williford first who will accept it, so the timing will never line up to snag Odom, but he's been a winner wherever he goes.

Said before I think Young is a good coach, not the season I thought you'd have, but hope you guys can string some wins together for a good post season run. I'll be pulling for ya.

and yeah, take that for what it's worth, TB wasn't even recruiting anyone else as he felt from what London was telling him was that he was coming, and something suddenly changed in the last 2 to 3 weeks all of the sudden. Some posters like @mg234 that have known to be well connected to the program are the ones indicating the NIL angle. Neither TB nor London are stating anything publicly, as they shouldn't, this really is no one's business but theirs, so remains to be seen how this plays out.

but from those connected with the program, it appears that was the case. I'm sure more will be said later. But the word is a booster is funding.

Everyone knows yes, dirty bag men under the table were doing this with certain people before, but most kids weren't talking openly about it and maybe those with a conscience weren't giving in to it or was only available to a select few, but now that it's legalized, even the next level down of top guys are going to be swayed by it.
It's likely that there will reach some sort of homeostasis, as even some of the rich donors are going to find they don't want to keep throwing so much of their money around, especially if it doesn't always guarantee a national championship, but that equilibrium will probably still just involve 20 to 30 or so schools. Let them have their own league.

But we just seem to have alumni that don't have an interest in supporting athletics over academics. We seem to have people willing to put down 50 million on a performing arts center, but not on a much needed athletic building. Carla doesn't seem to have fund raising in her strong suit, which hasn't helped the matter. Having year after year of mediocre football records isn't helping either, but not having a good Ops center probably contributes to that problem as well.

into this scheme. We also don't have the type of alumni that would even want to do this. They won't even support building a football ops building. I am sure coach TB hates this as well, and would hate to see it drive him out of coaching as a result.

Looks like we have lost out on a highly ranked PG recruit that seemed 100% guaranteed to us until the 11th hour, and it appears he's been pulled away (possibly to Georgia) by $$$ NIL money. Unfortunately rich conferences with a history of cheating, mostly SEC, are probably going to win these battles. Seems more than half of our board doesn't want to play this game, and would rather drop down to a lower more academic focused league (maybe with other like minded schools). Just curious if you all feel your school can or should try to pay to play the game or not.

I'm fine with a modest ability for a kid to earn money, maybe even tied to charitable efforts for good causes, but don't want it to devolve into some unsustainable bidding war for cash grabs.
