What is wrong with Neo?
2 points in 30 minutes. Is he injured?. Bad system for him? Coaches not utilizing him properly? Or just plain overrated? Such high hopes for him.

He gives a great post-game press conference. He never makes excuses. But he seems to have underachieved with this team. Is it time for a change?

Very true ...
But be careful who you fall for. The Pistons fell in love (as well as many other teams) with Darko Milicic in 2003, selecting him with 2nd pick overall, passing over a couple of players who are or will be elected to NBA Hall of Fame. He famously flamed out.

In a SBNation mock draft, posted January 27, 2026, Neo no longer is listed as a first round pick. While these mock drafts are subjective and often inaccurate, it is worth noting that his game play has been recognized by national pundits as needing additional refinement to be successful at the next level. Cardiac kids and thoughts on Neo
Wow, what a game. We did everything we could to give the game away, but came out victorious on the road. I watched the game in the dark with the sound muted as my wife slept. I had my trusty dog by my side. They say dogs lower blood pressure. I sure needed it for that last three minutes, especially the last minute.
As for Neo, I see the potential in his passing and court vision. Unfortunately he is not ready for the NBA. His shooting is erratic, he makes freshman decisions when pressured late in the game, and his free throw shooting with the game on the line is inconsistent. I follow the Pistons and I can tell you that he would not see the court with that roster. He would be exposed. G League at best. He should stay in school another year.

Definitely subsidizing the coaches salaries and a sub-group of major sports athletes. I think the vast majority of the athletes, though, particularly in Olympic sports, do not get much NIL money and are in school for the education.

I met the head coach of Eastern Michigan in the Orlando airport visiting my mother for her 89th birthday. I asked him about the transfer from EMU to VT and he said he said he is "really good."

Why don't we expand recruiting zone for OL?
Like we do for QB. It all starts in the trenches. I am a Lions fan and the first player Dan Campbell drafted was Penei Sewell. The anchor of the OL. I am watching South Dakota State in their FCS playoff game and they look like well oiled machine. That school puts offensive linemen in the league. Probably a bunch of guys who flew under the radar in high school. I think Montana State is another team in the FCS playoffs with a powerful OL. These guys are out there. Might we expand beyond our six hour radius for these positions?

Pry is not the answer
He totally mismanaged the clock at the end of first half. He should have used that 29 seconds at end of game to try to get in field goal range. Team feeds off this crap.

About Georgia ...
I have said this before on this board. Georgia absolutely has the right to be loyal to Coach Brooks and follow him. He discovered her, developed her, and was her pseudo father during and after Covid. Personally, I feel she did everything in her power and more to enhance the Hokies brand: from her positive personality, her podcast, and her play. Let her be her and we should instead rally behind our new coach. I have a stinking suspicion that she will be better than our former coach. Something about her makes me confident that she will take us to high places. And folks, don't worry: Kentucky will not win a national championship under Brooks next year (maybe never). After a year Georgia will be gone, whether it be the WNBA or Europe or back to Australia. Let her wear blue for a year but she always will be a Hokie to me.

If not hopefully she finishes her degree at Kentucky. Even though basketball is her meal ticket it is always good to earn that degree. Basketball does not last forever and a degree often is a gateway to coaching at the collegiate level if that interests her. Ask Michael Vick who did not earn his degree.

Georgia
I have mixed feelings about Georgia. On the one hand I hate to see her in that Kentucky uniform. On the other hand she seems like a mature and nice person. She represented Virginia Tech well. Attended her classes. Never had a disciplinary problem that we know of. And let's face it: Brooks discovered her in a basketball tournament in the middle of Eastern Europe as an 18 year old when hardly any other programs wanted her. I cannot blame her for being loyal to him.
