I'm beginning to wonder how we beat UVA twice this year

If we went on the road to Iowa, at least a 20 point loss. Very impressive game by UVA. If you would have told me the Hoos were gonna go to the Sweet 16 this year, I would have asked you to put the pipe down. Also, Iowa's team and fan base are kinda annoying, so may or may not have had moments where I was okay with the Hoos winning. Forgive me, I promise I'm still a Hokie.

I know but they collapsed at the end of the year

I know they played one of the toughest schedules in the country, but they finished 8-8 in the SEC, and lost their first round game in their conference tourney. They also don't have that many big wins. I still stand by that they should not have be in the tourney. NC State is smacking them right now, by the way.

Was the 8/9 seed expected?

Haven’t been following as much since ACC tourney. I was hoping for 10. Somehow, I knew we would get the 8/9. Texas took it to South Carolina. If we only lost by 20, it’s a victory. They are a national championship team. Gotta beat Oregon first though. Either way, happy to be dancing.

Okay, let’s be serious.

If we beat UNC tonight, I do not foresee us beating Louisville. I know, I know, UVA did, but if they play like this, ain’t happening and that’s not a knock on Duffy and the girls. Not many teams beating them when they play like they have tonight. I do think Syracuse’s record is deceiving but still… Tonight is most likely our championship and our comfortable ticket to the dance…

You are correct. She knows she’s going to get the call.

And with her being the face of the ACC - the refs are going to give her the calls. But it gets quite annoying. The announcers will not stop talking about her. I think Fournier is more skilled, although she plays a different position. But I see Fournier get mugged and no calls, and I do believe she was good enough to be ACC player of the year but it’s not appealing enough.

Myself included. I’m not saying I’m not guilty of being petty towards Brooks too. But Duffy is our coach now and she’s done magic with this team - win or lose tonight. My only concern with her is recruiting but I think we will be fine. But on a side note - how are they #17 with 10 losses? I know SEC is a different style and tough conference but so is ACC.

There’s no denying how much this team has developed this year.

And it’s Mackie Nelson keeping us alive. I know we wouldn’t be anywhere without Baker or Wentzel, but wow, they disappear sometimes. Just too inconsistent. I hope they come alive this 4th quarter. But if we play like this against UNC, we are smoked.
