I’m a Sophomore at Virginia Tech and I’m looking for a ticket to the Basketball game tomorrow morning. I’d love to hear if anyone has any insight?? Big game tomorrow let’s go Hokies need to be there!!

Does anyone know how early I should get to the squires parking lot for the game? Would like a spot near the grass. I never parked there and meeting some friends to tailgate.

Looks like I’ll be taking our teenage kids and wifey (5) to Bar Harbor in late July. I haven’t been since a kid and don’t remember anything about it. If anyone has been and has recommendations on where to stay, can’t miss things to do, and what to avoid (tourist traps) that would be appreciated. Been looking at Airbnb but haven’t found anything worth it yet so it seemed like Bar Harbor Grand Hotel looked nice (walking distance to town). We will fly to Boston and maybe stop at York Harbor or another town along the way.. might stay in Boston for a day or two :). Any other good towns to see and stay along the way from Boston? We usually wing it when we do trips and like to explore. Obviously I’m googling, but Lounge always has good intel, so appreciate it!

Currently tailgating in parking lot 13A and looking to change for next year. It’s further away from stadium and would like a good tailgate scene. Although, it was nice getting on the road quickly. Want to get closer to the stadium, but not in Zone A (lot 1/2) Thinking about lot 16 potentially. I think lot 16 you have to donate the minimum of zone C ($625) based on last year. My seats are fine in section 115 so basically I be donating more to get better parking for zone C. I assume the minimum would get me in… What parking lots do you all like the best?? Any pros/cons of lot 16?

Son bought a cub cadet zero turn zt1 last year and has put 150 hours on it. He just does the 50 hour maintenance: oil change, filter, sharpen blades. It’s a nice lawnmower, runs great, no issues.

Like to watch football games at tailgate this coming weekend…it’s been like 10 years since I have been to a VT football game and tailgated, so I’m not sure what works the best. Everything I have read online it looks like folks are using their phone mobile hotspot. Does that work best? how are you able to do this? Mobile hotspot on your phone + Roku? Thanks for your help!

How is skiing there compared to Breck/Vail…

out west and need some advice. Been to Tahoe and Breckenridge/Vail/Copper/Keystone a few times. Really like the experience at Breck because skiing is great and we like the town and how you can walk to everything. As far as skiing, my 2 high school boys and I ski everything. Daughter and wife mostly ski greens/blues, so we are all well rounded. Looking for another ski resort to go to that has a town similar to breck. Family wants to go to Utah or Jackson hole but never been to either. We usually rent a condo, eat in a few nights, and will go to a few restaurants as well. Any suggestions????? He has applied to a number of colleges, engineering major, and has heard back from all but 3. He submitted all his applications in early/mid October. During his visits we made sure to go to all the open houses, not the basic 1 hour tour because we have found that you get more out of the visit. For example the VT open house we attended was on a Sunday and it was a 4-6 hour event. Presentation about admissions, school, lots of good info. Post presentation he talked to other engineering student’s in every major, saw dorm rooms, food, tour with a guide, classrooms, etc. We never took the basic tour at VT but sounds like it needs to improve based on this thread. Highly recommend open houses, we tried to do those at every school he applied. He said that helped him tremendously in helping him make a decision. The open house at VT was better than all the other schools In addition, when the schools came to visit his high school or the recruiters were in the area for county/college open houses, he made sure to talk to each school’s recruiter. We were surprised as much as anyone else about the 25% offers from VT. We have found every college handles their admission process differently as you would expect, some better than others.. We received about the same amount of information from VT, GT, NC State, JMU, Tenn, but would say the only school that stood out was South Carolina. I felt they reached out a lot in email and send more stuff in the mail than other colleges.
