Posting History (159)

Just looked at the NCAA baseball rankings

the ACC has seven teams in the top twenty. It's going to be a long season for the Hokies. đŸĢ¤

Been watching women's college basketball

for many years now...how in the world has the officiating not gotten any better. Watching some of the UVa-Louisville game and it's simply atrocious. And it's been that way forever. I guess it's not a priority.

If the Duke-UVa matchup in the ACC Championship

doesn't scream that the ACC is up for grabs... nothing will. Unfortunately it probably also is predictor that the ACC as we know it won't exist within the next five years.

I think the fact that they gave Drones

a bunch NIL money is why he played all year. Gotta play the guy, we gave him a bunch of money...you see it in all pro sports.

UVa in a dogfight with Northwestern

State came out fast and jumped

to a double digit lead... VCU has settled down and isuch more competitive.

I don't see how Vegas had Tech favored

by 6.5. I told my son...if we were allowed to be on Tech games here in the state I would have bet my house on Wake.

I was hoping Tech would be up enough

that we would see Pop for the second half. Drones is not the future, need to start preparing someone else to take over.

Lol...I was in at the beginning when

this was called HokieCentral. I graduated in '76 so I guess I was at Tech a little before Dan as well.

Greetings....a group of TSL Hokies

have been running a Yahoo Fantasy Baseball league for several years. One of our members had to leave the league and we a looking for someone to take his place as a team manager. It's a real laid back group, so if you like MLB and are interested you can contact me at [email protected] and I can put you in touch with our commissioner. Thanks!

I hate to be a pessimist but I don't see a way forward

that Tech can take that will bring any kind of sustained success like we've had in the past. What I see is that, just like this year, Tech will lose a majority of their roster to either graduation or the portal. Which means that they will start every year with inexperienced young players or players they have brought in from the portal that are unfamiliar with their system. I also don't see Tech having the NIL budget to compete for the very best players from the portal, so they will fill a lot of roster spots with guys from G5 and lower programs. Now every once and a while you'll have one of those guys break out, but you can't count on that on a regular basis. Plus you are going to be really thin as far as depth. Any type of significant injuries and your season is done. But every year it will be rinse and repeat. Trying to bring in guys and get them up to speed...I just don't see it being possible for Tech to compete for conference championships. More likely you'll see a lot more 6-6 or 7-5 seasons if we are lucky. That will result in a crappy bowl, against a crappy opponent in which half or more of our roster will opt out. I can't see our fan base getting behind this scenario in a way that would cause them to contribute financially. I don't want to be all gloom and doom. If they tweak to portal system and make it a contractual arrangement where guys have to stay at least two years and play in a bowl if you get in one. That would make the situation a little more viable. ** Edited by HokieDan at 1/4/2025, 10:19:19 AM

I don't watch the ACC Huddle that much,

but I'm really impressed with Eddie Royal. He seems to be one of the most insightful commentators on the panel.

SMU not looking very good against Nevada

to start the game. They're 20+ point favorites in this game.

Gearing up for the game here in Lynchburg...

Liberty has a picnic area down the right field line with really nice rocking chairs. I scored one, so I'm going to sit back and enjoy the game. ** Edited by HokieDan at 5/8/2024, 5:49:44 PM

So if Drones is gone,as everyone is speculating,

who is our QB this season? Pop? Wittke? or we try to bring in an older player from the portal?

It's pretty obvious that if you have a history

in the tournament the committee gives preference to those schools in seeding and in bubble consideration. Not saying that's wrong... it's just a fact.

I'm with you. If the football team or men's basketball

are struggling, I love the fact that I can watch the women's basketball team, or softball or wrestling, or any of the Tech sports that are having success. I always watch football and basketball, but it's nice to have the others as well.
