Incoming freshmen- how do they fit within the current roster?

I know it can be pretty rare for freshmen to get much playing time. But there are exceptions to every rule, especially with high caliber players coming out of high school. What’s expected with our incoming class?

Is there a VT family backstory?

She posted pic of her in Hokie apparel as a child. I read another article about her high school career that said she comes from a basketball family.

Her instagram indicates she’s been a Hokie since childhood πŸ¦ƒπŸ§‘

With some great coaching and dedication, I’d love to see her blossom and shine at Tech!

Player Visit - Who was it?

Earlier today I saw a post on Instagram from a player visiting the program. She shared pics and said it was an official visit but she had not (yet) committed. I wanted more info but the post disappeared before I could do any research and now I can't find it. Anyone know who this was?

I imagine that she probably was

She was a team player, and played as hard as anybody could ask her to down low, but I see her best fit being as a 3. She's such a great shooter when she can spot up more often

Yeah that was messed up

I would have liked to have seen replays of a bunch of foul calls too - but those weren't being shown very often

We should have some great players coming back next year...

The best teams have had time to gel together for more than one season. The portal changes that for a lot of teams, so could be a plus for us if we can maintain the core group and add more talent as well

I'm going to miss Bedford - he was solid for us this year

especially the last half of the season ** Edited by Here4Hokies at 3/7/2026, 5:21:16 PM

Wild that players can come in and get paid that much

even when they don't perform as expected (Neo). He obviously wanted it, and seemed like a team player, but there was so much pressure on him being 19, never having played in the states before. I'll miss watching Lawal - what a leaper! Incredible athlete and great person and team player. But - his basketball IQ was severely lacking at times. Silly mistakes at the end of games, particularly.

Love hearing this, can't wait to cheer her on!

It's a bit painful seeing two back-to-back Gatorade Players of the Year from Virginia (Lanie Grant and Nyla Brooks) playing for UNC, but we got North Carolina's POY in Kate! :) Plus Conneticut's POY in Mackie! And Carleigh is our own POY! :)

She’s had some killer blocks and her court vision seems good…

She had a really great pass in the 1st half. Offense will surely come as she settles in and gets confident
