No- we wont know for a couple seasons whether or not Pry is our guy. Yet, the ‘Beamer’ era….was not so long ago. Football is mostly the same. What has changed is the focus on the poor deprived woebegone football player…..the one getting a free ride in college…..in exchange for their talent on the field. I think that it is quite fair to expect a year of sitting out if you abandon your team. (for same level transfers). As it is now, there is no balance. The field is biased to both the player and to the elite top teams. So a player can move at will….and and elite team or NLI can simply buy a good player to come somewhere in order to simply harm a competitor. I think in exchange for the scholarship, the student needs to be contractually bound to the university. That includes a year out except for medical and hardship transfers. The contract also includes restrictions on promotional deals. These players are legally adults. They can sign a contract. This is where the NCAA screwed up. If all this was spelled put in a contract that each player had to sign….we likely aren't here.

You’d rather have us in a conference where we travel everywhere? I’d rather go back to the OLD Big East than go Big 10. The only logical alternative to the ACC for VT is the SEC. We would be a Mid Level SEC team….seldom reaching the conference game. The ACC gives us the best opportunity to be conference champions and the best opportunity for the playoffs.

So you were going to “meter” your entertainment regardless. I doubt that the crossover schedule will affect your attendance one bit. I got four kids too…. I am not up their rears all the time nor are they up mine.

Going back 30 years almost. They have always been a scrappy challenge for VT and we lose as much as we win. Pitt is Excellent as a crossover. Boston College would have been more logical than Wake forest. Maybe Miami. What i really want is West Virginia in the ACC with us and them as a primary crossover.

Thats two games we should win and a tossup. Wake is easy to get to and will be Hokie heavy on game day. Pitt is a damn good opponent. Year in and year out, this one will be a challenge. UVA is UVA. I see this series starting to become more challenging over time. … not because of any deficiencies of Pry and Co, but because of improvements on the UVA side of the world. Wake, of it reverts to form will be a good tuneup game for the Hokies. However, if they stay as good as last year, they will be another respectable opponent. Remember, we get every other team on the roster two of every four years. This is far better than the division schedules that are being abandoned. Now we cant count on being in the ACC title game by being 6-6 and the best in a crap division. Now, we must be better than all but one other team to get to the ACC title game. I hope Pry is going to really get us back to being a 10 win team.

I am hoping for most of these deals to be busts. That will eliminate a lot of it. The higher profile the bust, the better.
