Posting History (116)

Airlines wouldn’t want a V-22 but a future generation a/c

With the V/STOL technology worked out. I was talking with an osprey crew and they are very happy to be flying such a safe bird.

Not since a VT aerospace engineer made them lots safer

Jim MCCue, AeroE 1967. Got a Gold Medal from the American Society of Naval Engineers for figuring out how to make the a/c fly safely. Now that bird is one of the safest birds in the air. Recent accidents have generally been SpecOps guys pushing the envelope. The a/c was snake bit early in its life. I heard the airlines kept resuscitating the bird to get the technology settled. The big lines want to spread their feeder links to keep their hub model viable

Hmm, tuff question.

I use YouTube TV because it has ACCN and NFL channels. That said, some VT games are not on ACCN a and seeing them can be problematic.

This "gem" is in the article:

"DOWN FIVE WITH less than three minutes to play, Virginia had four plays from the Hokies' 11-yard line, but a 2-yard run and three straight incompletions doomed the drive. Less than 24 hours later, Mendenhall was in his office pondering the future." I recall one amazingly stupid reception. Amiright?

I wonder if Frank Beamer and John Ballein could be enticed to appear

Make a good pair IMO. They might open up and share some stories. They were present at creation!

I hire a hot spray applicator every few years.

The key is to fill cracks that can fill with water and then freeze, widening the cracks. A good hot seal can reduce the chance of cracks.

You do NOT want to have shingles!

I have way too much experience with that disease. It is a nerve problem which manifests itself on your skin. The pain is excruciating and doesn’t respond rapidly to treatment. A buddy had shingles which started just over one eye. He said it felt like someone was driving a nail into his forehead. I thought he was exaggerating. Years later, I had the same thing and he was right! The danger for he and I was that our optic nerve in that eye could be effected possible losing sight in that eye. Fortunately, our eyesight was not impacted. My mother and a neighbor of mine have had shingles on their body. My mom was bedridden and that was terrible. My buddy is young (68) and in good shape. He’s miserable, in pain night and day even under medication. Sorry to hear about your reaction to the vaccine but it’s better than the disease.

HokieSports (using browser) has a link to audio

On my iPhone and ipad, VT Sports app has a link. They al work well for me.

I’m yelling at my tv now

Those β€˜hits’ were so limp! I could hit harder than that and I’m over 3 times their age. Who’s the batting coach?

Thia is a magical time in Hokie sports!

I've been around a day or two (cough, cough) and I want to SHOUT FROM THE ROOFTOPS - This is a magical Time for Hokie sports!

Man, watching the baseball game tonight, I wasn't very optimistic. In years past, our teams would have let the other team off with a one-run win. Tonight renewed my faith in this team and our teams.

A sophomore hit the winning shot but the whole team made it happen. Great job, guys.

Proposed 3-5 schedule sux!

VT would play these three teams every year: BC, Louisville, and UVa. I hate it.

News comes from an article in The Athletic and is behind a paywall.
