Posting History (6)

Well let's be realistic here - this sort of thing

has been going on for a looong time. Many big sports stars in high school have always received an easy ride, with "perks", into and through college as long as they produced on the field. Just look at guys like Dexter Manley who went to Oklahoma State for 4 years and graduated while never even learning to read. That was 1981. There are many other examples of course. Now the money is just being handed to them legally on the table rather than under it. And in larger amounts. Don't get me wrong, NIL along with the portal has done a lot of damage to sports by making money an expectation now. Big reason I have lost pretty much most interest in following college sports these days. Pro sports lost me a long time ago.

So who's headed to to Palo Alto this October?

Just booked it - flights to San Jose are reasonable and lodging in downtown Palo Alto is actually pretty inexpensive, and it's a short walk to the stadium. We're actually staying the whole week after and hitting Sausalito, Carmel, and Santa Cruz. Will be great to see the Hokies play their farthest west regular season game ever. I actually don't count the Nut Bowl anyway because it was a debacle of a game played in a baseball stadium. And we should win! ** Edited by BeastLiteVT at 2/28/2024, 8:56:12 AM
