Posting History (78)

All Matches will be wrestled this morning in RIO

Originally scheduled to have medal matches later in the day. But now will go all in the 9am to 1pm session. Let's go boys! Bo (65kg) Ryan (79kg)

My best guess...

I think we are possibly attracting some higher level recruits, that maybe we hadn't in the past. The higher post college aspirations, typically lends its hand to more fs experience, as thats all we have post collegiately. When typically talking about this, as Dresser and Robie got us rolling we were attracting 3 and 4 star guys, with an out lier 5 star type prospect. Lately, and I think as we continue to build, we are in serious talks with the best guys at each weight, and they all want to win World and Olympic Titles or atleast see them selves doing that as Sophomore and Juniors in HS. Not that there aren't some kids that don't do much freestyle and will be unbelievable in college, I think the young super stars are wrestling year round, and are excelling because they have constant "wrestling IQ/experience". These newbies coming in have such a high ceiling in a totally different way then a guy like Mekhi, whose 3rd ever FS tournament, he won a Jr World Title, beating a guy who has now wrestled in 2 Olympic Games for Azerbaijan. Hope this helps a little, and most likely just stated the obvious...haha. Sam and I are speaking to a big group of alumni in Cassell today, as it's Alumni Weekend on Campus, please wish us luck, and hopefully we can find some new fans to jump on board!! Lets Go Hokies!!

****

2x AA and #2 seed at last years NCAAs will start that line-up. Jaden hasn't missed an off season workout, along with Sergio. And I am sure we will see lots of Drew Gorman and hopefully some Dillon Campbell. Our depth is at an all time high, and if 5 for 5 passes, we will definitely see a bunch of youngsters (Garcia, Rozas, Rocha) and others trying to find their way into the lineup! Any group we send out 125-285 is going to be mighty salty... Should be fun watching Caleb wrestle returning 157 champ on June 19th.

*****

At the moment.... Aaron Seidel and Collin Gaj for 4 more NCAAs!!

Long Rainy Relaxing Memorial Day Weekend

Hey guys, just checking in like I normally do, hoping to answer some questions and say hey to our Hokie Wrestling Faithful!! Most the boys are in town for another 5-6 days before the U20 and U23 guys(Seidel, Burton, Gorman, Nininger, and Mullen) take off for Geneva, Ohio to try and make a couple World Teams! After next weekend, most of the boys will head to their respective homes for some R&R and unplug, before coming back the 3rd week of June. From there we will have a 5 week training phase, which will include Summer 2 academically, freshman moving into dorms, 4 Robie Wrestling Camps, all while lifting and wrestling 5-6 days a week! Couple Highlights from the Spring: -Ryan Burton and Bo Bassett win U20 Titles (will wait for winner of WTT for best of 3 to make world team next Fri.) -Caleb Henson and Jimmy Mullen place 2nd and 5th in Sr. Level US Open...3 others make it to blood round (Gorman, Sasso, and Andonian) -Bo and James Green win Sr. US Open Titles and qualify for Final X -Caleb takes 2nd at WTT and will wrestle for a spot on National Team at Final X -Aaron takes 4th at WTT after losing in Semis to Jax who TF'd everyone else including Davino. Aaron TF'd the 3 seed Desanto (who earlier this season beat 4 different world or Olympic medalists to win a ranking series event) and then TF'd 2x AA and 5 seed in Consi Semis, before pulling out the 2nd day. -Hired 4x AA, 7x World Team Member, 2x world medalist, and former SERTC Athlete James Green (Greezy) -Another Hire officially coming in the next week. To Come: -Burton and Bo U20 Pan Ams July 8-10 Rio -Ranking Series Budapest Bo, James July 15ish -U20 Worlds (hopefully 4 Hokies) August 17-20 Slovakia -U23 Worlds (Bo and hopefully a couple more) Oct 15ish Vegas -Sr. Worlds Oct. 24-31 Astana, KAZ -SERTC Open Nov. 1st (LOL) Have an awesome holiday weekend and you know I will answer the questions I can. An exciting and busy summer for Hokie Wrestling. One sorta good thing is, we can't start technically recruiting 2028 recruits till next April, so no recruits in Lane this Fall, but you know I love locking those Future Hokies down, so hopefully some of these youngsters want to jump on board a little early. 5 for 5 got pushed a month, but sounds like its coming, which we love... Sorry to good so long winded, but dang there is so much fun stuff going on in Blacksburg!! Go Hokies!

Welcome to the Post Season...

11th Place and both ACC Titles, if you told me that beginning of the year, knowing what we knew RS wise and loosing a couple starters to the portal... I would have called you a liar. This teams personality coupled with staying the course and trusting the process, allowed us to probably win some duals that we weren't supposed to and snowballed into an awesome ACC tournament. And with having a good season and a great tournament, the expectations were on, for the last weekend in Cleveland. So unfortunately we come back from Cleveland a little bit disappointed, all while knowing we were right there to finish much higher in a couple instances. One thing I can say, is that throughout the entire season, until each one of their last matches, our team fought and brought the effort just about every time out. And as a coach, that is about all we can ask of them. Proud of our guys this year, and incredibly excited for what is to come! Some quick updates for the next couple weeks: -Sr. US OPEN Probables: Henson, Andonian, Bassett, Sasso... and maybe a couple more -Jr. US OPEN Probables: Burton, Bassett.... Seidel and Gaj are the other possibles for U20 -Most likely a couple Hokies will enter the portal, they will always be Hokies and we love them. -Team Camp June 25-28 Still a couple spots left, if your hometown team wants in. Robiewrestling.com -SERTC is looking hard for another resident athlete, so hopefully we will have some news in the next 2-3 months -I get to speak at the Blacksburg Sports Club tomorrow, so if you are there be sure to say "Hi!" -The portal also opens tomorrow. April Fools day, so be aware. -We should know golf tournament dates in the next week or so. Appreciate all you guys do for our program and the support you give us throughout the year, win or lose. We have a lot to be proud of, and I am humbled every year as a look back at the 9 seasons we have been here. The best is yet to come and I can not wait to experience it with the best fans in America! Go Hokies! Happy Early Easter!

Couple soon to be Hokies wrestling tonight...

Alex Rozas at 6 pm on Flo- PA vs USA All-Stars Bo at 8pm on Fox Nation RAF Card I will jump on here Monday and give a quick post season rundown and answer any questions the board might have. Hope everyone is great, have an awesome night! -Frayer Go Hokies!

After a couple of cancelled flights from ROA...

Caleb and I have gotten up to Dulles and are on our way to Paris En Route to Zagreb Croatia... We will arrive in Zagreb around 1:30 tomorrow, with 2.5 days of acclimation, weight control and final preps for Caleb to do what he does in the 1st World Ranking Series event. (if Caleb is the Rep for Team USA at the worlds this year, this first of 2 events, gives him seeding points for the World Championships at 70kg.) I will try and keep the board updated before he competes on Wednesday, and then we will make our way back on Thursday in hopes of being in Charlottesville for the match with the HOOS on Friday. Last night was fun, with some great performances and others that show we are making some progress. Excited for our guys as they continue to build and enjoy some fruits of all their labor. As coaches we know it's just another win, but a win down there is something that is always a little more special. Our respect for those guys is immense, and winning, especially this year is pretty darn cool. UVA and UNC are tricky teams, so we will be more then ready to finish this ACC schedule they way we need to. Thank you so much to all that made it down to Raleigh, those Lets Go Hokies chants, that made WPN counter, were epic... We have the best fans in College Wrestling! Wanted to also push our last Compound Store of the college season... Some really great options for us Hokie Wrestling Fans.... bit.ly/4bqfQPR Link is also below "Flash Store" got guarantees to be delivered before ACCs. All the best and I will update on IG and Twitter and sneak on the forum Tuesday night for a quick update.

****

What Mole said... Blacksburg and VT is the best fit for the best people. Relationships and Effort matter. Excited about the continued upper trend of our trajectory! Lets go Hokies!

****

We have heard the same, so it is at the very forefront of our decisions lineup wise moving forward. Would be nice to know sooner then later!

****

1. They are doing great! All 6 that are currently healthy are making unbelievable strides and making it a point to get better every day. I wouldn't be surprised if all 6 make an appearance in the starting line up at some point this year... Seidel 33, Gorman 41, Gaj/Noah 49,57, Weader 65, Burton 65/74 2. There is definitely conversation, but nothing final as of yet. Caleb is healthy and training at an elite level. 3. We will continue with our current relationship w/JO and we are always scouring the country for elite training partners...plan on having some more visitors in from other countries, as well as current guys training in the US at the Senior level. No current talks for a resident athlete... if you have any ideas feel free to email me. 4. I don't have a lot of knowledge on how they will decide to move forward with the National Duals, but I don't believe PayCom is going anywhere, so hopefully they do some trial and error this year, but so far everything seems to be running smooth. The duals do hurt our OOC Dual schedule as we end up seeing a lot of our past Big 10, 12 and Ivy League opponents out there. Our goal is to bring big time environment duals to Cassell and have our big OOC duals happen on their campuses. College wrestling needs big time dual meets!

****

1. Hopefully 2. I don't think so... but will definitely see some commits in college opens 3. Man, that would be nice... 4. We don't miss many recruiting opportunities, especially one that close. We will have a big one on campus, but we will be well represented in Greensboro.

VT Wrestling Gear Store

I would imagine most of you guys have seen this, but wanted to post our Compound Gear Store on here. It's open for 4 more days and they said gear will be shipped by the National Duals!! -Match Day today for our guys, and then we are giving them the next 3 days to head home one last time, or just rest up in Blacksburg, before we lock into season! -Appreciate everyone's support and enthusiasm, especially after a monumental last week or so. -Robie will head to WNO this weekend, to support a couple commits and support some future commits. -I will try and jump on here and answer any questions for the good of the group in the next 24 hours. -All Star Classic- RUTGERS Nov. 1 (Eddie V) -SERTC Open- ROANOKE Nov. 2 (Most our guys) -Bucknell- CASSELL Nov. 7 -Bill Ferrell- NYC Nov. 8 (Andonian, Latona)

Flew in and out of Chicago...

and hit a couple guys, all with in a 2 hour radius... a little bit outside our normal footprint, but we had the connections previous. 2027 should be another fun class for us, with still a couple 2026 outliers.

Checking in...

Happy August everyone, just checking in, while we are out on the road, hitting living rooms across the country, these first couple weeks of August. It has been an eventful summer, as all the boys have been in Blacksburg from the last week of June through the end of last week! We had 4 terrific Robie Wrestling Camps, where we had close to 500 total kids join us on campus, learning from our guys and staff. Our 6 incoming freshman settled into their dorm rooms, and our 3 incoming transfers locked into our routines and got to know their new teammates and new roommates. So a lot going on, and now with the boys back home enjoying the last couple weeks of Summer, Robie and myself are out in the Midwest, and will meet up with Coach Tanelli and Haught later this week back in NJ and PA respectively. After catching up on a couple pages of posts below, I will try and hit a couple of topics: -First "Golf Outing, Sept 12 (Friday before ODU game) will post link below. (Hole Sponsors, Golfers, Lunch and Beverage sponsors, and Raffle Items will be much appreciated) -Boys have had an awesome 5-6 weeks of training, most of everyone's projected lineups look pretty on point. Will definitely be some interesting battles at some weight classes, and our freshman are looking as good as advertised if not better. -This is the most talent rich, high wrestling IQ, hard working group of guys, we have had in Blacksburg. -The SERTC continues to allow us to have some pretty amazing training opportunities... Chamizo in for a couple days, JO in for a week, and most likely being here more frequently is pretty awesome. Caleb getting the opportunity to be in Japan for 10 days, and hopefully starting a great relationship with VT and the Japanese in some form of exchange program, that will allow us to get more guys to Japan in the future and vice versa. -Schedule should be released in the next week. (OSU will be here on a Sunday in Febuary) While on the road I will try and answer a couple more questions, but thought I would stop in and say "hey!" Thanks again for all you guys do for our program, we appreciate you all so much. Go Hokies!

Link for tonights VT Wrestling Zoom

Not everyone is getting the correspondence about coaches Zoom tonight, so here is the link:

To be honest, probably a little bit of both....

Weight management, strategy... could not cardio and do some things he typically does. Pretty excited he is back to being healthy.

Some pretty exceptional hs kids no doubt...

Just think the resources to improve are a little more readily available for the kids that are motivated to be great. Definitely don't think the internal motivation is as high as it used to be, which makes the recruiting process all that more important.

The open was 3 weeks after NCAAs... Caleb needed a BREAK!

We cam to the conclusion about a 3 weeks out, it was time to lock back in, and for his 2028 hopes, this was a big tourney for him. Didn't end the way we wanted, but he got the Freestyle experience, as well as the heartbreak, which tends to not fair well for the field moving forward. He's as healthy as he has been in 2 years, so daily improvement is his goal at the moment. The boys ran two snakes of Lane this morning and he won by over a minute... all 20 of them did a great job!

Summer 2025...

Today is our last workout with the guys, as we cut them loose to head home for 3 weeks, besides Sonny and Parker as they prepare for U20 Trials and U23s for Parker. It's been a great Spring training cycle with the US Open and the WTT coinciding, while everyone else got better and finished up school. Along the way we picked up a couple commitments, as well as some transfers (Miller and Desiante) and are hoping to add one more real soon. The boys will head home, for some much needed down time, which will allow them to work camps, take vacations and recharge their batteries before coming back June 21 for a 5 week training cycle while also running our VT Camps. We will have 4 camps in Blacksburg, so let your home town team know about TEAM CAMP (July 7-10) or any other wrestlers as we have 2 High Performance Training Camps and our normal Skills and Drills Camp. Excited to get our entire 2025 Class on campus soon, as we have had a good majority of them here the month of April and early May, but the energy will be at another level once we get Seidel, Gorman, Nininger, Gaj, Weader and Burton all in one place! Bryce will wrestle June 14th at Final X against Ian Parker for his spot on the National Team. (this gives Bryce a small monthly stipend, paid trip to the OTC, and atleast one paid overseas trip) Lastly, Coach Robie is doing great, gaining steam each and every day, but will it will definitely take some time for him to be 100%. He's been in the office and in the wrestling room the last couple days, so he's getting back to normal slowly but surely. He appreciates all the kind words and prayers, it is a pretty amazing gesture and we couldn't be more happy for our leader and especially the health of our good friend Norm Latona!! ps. if you have any questions you think I can answer don't hesitate to ask, I will answer the ones I feel are applicable for the good of the group. I think you guys will be pretty excited about the possibilities of this 2025-26 Roster!

Weddings and Funerals...

It's been a little bit since I have been on, so I thought I would stop in and say "hi!" Can't believe it's only been two weeks since Philly, the emotional roller coaster of the highs and lows, makes it feel like that tourney is 3 weeks long, especially the following couple days. Our boys wrestled hard, with some amazing victories and some heart breaking losses, but all in all its back to the drawing board, as no one left Wells Fargo Arena satisfied. The support from Hokie Nation was unmatched out there, and I know this board was glued to your computers and tv's, and we could not do what we do without it. Since the we got back last Sunday, the guys that didn't wrestle have started lifting and getting on the mats 3 times a week, while our guys going to Vegas (Campbell, Crook, Andonian, Sasso and Ferrell) are training hard and will be ready to rock in 3 weeks! We've had two portal guys on campus in the last week, with 3 or 4 more visits getting lined up as we speak...(hope to throw out some eyes on twitter soon). Our Banquet is Saturday, and we are hosting a prospect camp on Sunday, so no rest for the weary, always exciting times in the Burg!! Our incoming Frosh are killing it every where they get the chance... Seidel, Gorman, Nininiger, Gaj, Weader, Torres, and Burton will be chomping at the bit to be the guy from Day 1!! Most of them will also be in Vegas for U20 Trials. Our streak of 3+ All Americans stayed in tact, with only Iowa, PSU and Cornell being able to do that for 12 years now. Other then that, the staff is crushed for our guys, but know that they are already on to the next! Our group of boys is unreal, and you all should be proud, this culture will continue to breed success, and the best is still to come! Appreciate you guys, and Go Hokies! #ThisIsHome

****

We love and support our guy no matter what....he will get through this, and receipts will be saved.

****

Those two weights are definitely undetermined at this time, I think we can figure out who is leading the way, but both guys at each weight are handfuls and podium threats in their own right. Great problem to have, but difficult for all involved.

Quick Catch Up and Appreciation Post...

Been a little while since I jumped on, so I thought I would stop in and say "hey!" The boys are catching their breath after a promising trip to Sin City, where we saw some really good progress up and down the line up. And as a whole we came back healthy, with Lennox and McCongagle, healing up their bodies in preparation for our trip to Stillwater. Today was the last day of classes, with Exams beginning on Friday, so the next 6 days we will be getting some good training in and finishing up the semester with a bang in the classroom. We will most likely take 14-15 guys to Oklahoma on Wednesday, and the rest of the crew will be cut loose until after Christmas. From there we will take decent contingent to Chattanooga for the Southern Scuffle, Jan. 4-5. And prepare for our 1st ACC dual, UNC on the 10th down in Chapel Hill. Also wanted to say "thank you" to all our die hards on here that follow each competition and bleed passion for Hokie Wrestling, this program would not be here without you guys!! As we get deep in recruit talks with parents, they seem to always bring up this board and the passion/knowledge you all bring to the table. The enthusiasm this team has going, is a direct reflection of its culture and the type of support that surrounds them... we are all extremely grateful for it! So with that, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, and VT Wrestling will be preparing for a monster opportunity in Cowboy Country! Go Hokies!! #ThisIsHome If you have any questions, you think I can answer for the good of the group, I will try and jump on here before 10am practice tomorrow. Be Great!

Friday/ Saturday Info..

Flowrestling will Stream 6pm Dual against UTC on Friday and the Southeast Open on Saturday. Dual ($10) will be a mixture of healthy starters and healthy "next man up" guys. Open ($15, bring a lawn chair) will be a good mixture of 25 VT Wrestlers. 11/9 App Invite= Will be 15 of our top 2 healthy guys each weight. App Open (which coincides w/ invite)= will be up to 15 of our other VT wrestlers. email me if you have any questions ([email protected]) Exciting weekend ahead!!

Couple Tidbits...

-Practice is going great and the talent level as a whole, has never been higher in my 8 years here. -2 transfers (McGonagle and Wolak) are crushing it, as well as fitting in like they have been here all along. -We will have some serious battles for starting positions at 5-6 different weight classes. -There will be a true freshman or two battling for starting positions at smaller weights than most expected. -We are 5 weeks from our 1st dual meet (UTC @ Roanoke College) Southeast Open then next day. -Bryce will head to the OTC next Sunday for one week, to train with James and the rest of the world team, leading up to the world championships. -Most of the staff will head to PA on Sunday for the Who's Number One event. -Golf Tournament and Saturday Tailgate a few weeks ago, were as well attended and supported as ever. As always if you have any questions, I will check back on here and answer as best I can, or feel free to shoot me an email. [email protected] Let's get a big win tomorrow night!! #ThisIsHome

Quick Catch Up...

The team got away from the craziness of campus and ran Dragons Tooth this morning, and I thought I would jump on a catch up with you guys... couple notes since I was last on and then I will try and answer a few questions if anyone has any. -Obviously fired up about Coach Zach Tanelli and what he brings to our staff, and most importantly to the young men at VT(post, present, and future) He's already been on the recruiting trail and in our room, as he begins the transition of moving his party of 5 to Blacksburg. (he closes on his new home in 2 weeks, the guy is not messing around) -Couple portal guys (Happy for Clayton Ulrey and the better UNC, he will crush it out there and earn his MBA while doing so) Also excited for Cooper and his future at Minny, and Logan Frazier at IU. Both will have bright futures. -Jimmy Mullen crushed it out in Vegas, and will spend the next 3 weeks locking down some positions and preparing to represent the USA for the 2nd time at U20 Worlds. (Jimmy sits in the finals, waiting to wrestle best 2 of 3) -Our recruits had some great showings at Va Beach (NHSCA's) and also in Vegas... that 2025 class is a special one, and they are as thick as thieves, really high character, studly group. -We will keep our guys here through the end of May with a few competing at U23s and U20s in Geneva, OH. As of now it looks like (Mason, Crook, Bryce, Finn, Fisher and Smith) with Jimmy wrestling U20 trials. -2024 Class will be here July 1st, moving into the dorms, training and starting summer school. The older guys will be back June 24th to train and work camps through the end of July. - Camps (Kids commuter camp June 20-21, Skills Drills June 23-26, 30 Man June 23-27, Team Camp July 7-10 and 30 Man 2 July 21-25... We have a couple spots left in Team Camp, please let your local HS coach know and email me [email protected] and we will get him all squared away. robiewrestling.com - Golf Tourney Sept. 6 southeast-rtc.com to register, 10k a day in May is crushing it!!! - Other then that, the boys are doing great... the injuries from the end of the year, are almost all healed up and we are looking forward to some awesome training cycles, as well as some much needed time off in early June. I know that's alot, but there is a lot going on... this team is pretty special and we could not be more thankful for our fans, alumni and supporters. You guys are the ones that allow us to do what we do, and continue to build this program the right way. #ThisIsHome ** Edited by AirHokie66 at 5/10/2024, 1:50:11 PM

Couple questions answered...

There is no US Open this year, so I can't full fill my bet... Last chance qualifier is 65kg and 74kg... I am definitely 70kg in my old age. Caleb was pretty banged up, and it will take a whole fight camp(atleast 6 weeks to get his weight down to 143)so Caleb will not be in State College unfortunately. I do think he could win, when the time is right. We are hitting the portal for a couple needs. Clint is a game changer for this program and for the entire athletic department. The guys that have bought in have seen pretty ridiculous results (making weight easier, feeling better off the scale, inflammation reduction, body composition, etc.) Crook, Latona, Henson, Bryce, TJ to name a few... Discussions are in the works with Bryce and Mekhi for this next year. Our goal is to get the best fits for VT out of HS (loyalty, effort, accountability and top end performers) develop them, and then make sure we take good care of them in every facet of their lives. We can't stop people from poaching we can only strengthen our relationships and do what is best for our guys. I think our record speaks for itself, if you don't love where you are....$$ doesn't matter. If you excel here, you will put yourself in a position to achieve "life changing" relationships, and with that the opportunities will be there. #THISISHOME Lets Go Hokies!!

Emotional Hangover...

Hey guys, still in a little bit of a stooper, but wow what crazy 3 days... the boys came to KC ready to scrap!! Wanted to let you all know how proud we are of Hokie Nation and the following you guys brought to NCAAs. I can not tell you how many times, coaches and other athletes spoke of how loud you guys were in the stands and the amount of Maroon and Orange scattered around the city! Unfortunately I didn't get to witness a whole lot of the social side of it, because these dang wrestlers kept us so busy, but I most definitely could hear y'all from the floor. Up and down the lineup our guys wrestled hard...6 guys in the R12 and literally "seconds away" from having 3 in the semis and 2 in the finals. So proud of Bryce and Mekhi, battling through injuries, personal heart breaks and just competing with unbelievable heart and will to achieve AA status for the 3rd and 4th time. I love those two more than anything and super proud of the careers they had for us. How about Andy Smith and Hunter Catka, we all knew those performances were in those guys, so pretty amazing runs from our two big boys, and both of them took out Hawkeyes which is really fun!! TJ Stewart, did what he does... when the lights are on, our guy performs!! Literally his first NCAAs ever(never went and watched) which we try and get all our guys to do before they compete there, but for him to soak it all in and let it fly, wow!! it was pretty awesome! The TFs and Pins were sweet, but watching him dig down and find a way to take out a veteran like Foca, that's stuff of legend. Kids gonna be a beast for the Hokies the next 3 years! Lastly, seeing Caleb run the gauntlet and come out the other side was something extraordinary. He has a gift of staying locked in and wrestling every position with extreme confidence, effort and IQ for as long as it takes. We are extremely grateful he is with us, and he is the same today as he was Saturday morning... humble, grateful and a fierce competitor! Sorry I am kinda of just kinda of blogging at the moment... Top 5 moments(no particular order) Andy over Glazier, Mekhi not getting pinned on the brick throw, Caleb over Lovett, Bryce over Ed Scott(definitely top 2, so emotional) and then an athletes hug after achieving a monumental goal!! Weddings and funerals is so true at this tourney... so high and so low for our guys, one guy make the quarters and another guys has his career end. One guy wins to make the final, another on the backside ends his season. Just glad we ended with a wedding! We are already busy figuring out pieces for next year, but man, what an awesome weekend... Literally two big wins from taking 2nd... but you tell me, 4 aa's, 7th place and an NCAA CHAMP before KC, I would take it every time! Appreciate you guys so much, HOKIE NATION, specifically wrestling nation is 2nd to none!! I will check on here the next 24 hours or so, if anyone has any questions I can answer.

They have been doing this a long time....

They know the expectation of where there weights need to be, and with the 5 match limit for RS, they know they can't just cash in this year. Any one of the 9 freshman could be tabbed to go on Friday night and they are expected to be ready. From November thru March, we expect all of our 30 guys to be ready to make weight with in 48 hours. Another reason, college wrestling is a cruddy hobby. These kids are pretty unbelievable... School, 2 workouts a day, weight management, and all doing this at an incredibly high level. (Cum 3.1 GPA, with 6 in the school of engineering, 10 in the school of business, and everything else in between)

25 and 41 played out in front of the curtain...

Two guys saw us hurting a little bit, and they both stepped up in a huge way! Coop coming out of Olympic RS and Tom locking into our new "world class" nutritionist and the both knew this could be a special year and wanted to be a part of it! Leaving EV to heal up and our true frosh 41 to RS and get better. We will know more about 84 tomorrow. Sam got some huge wins first half the season, Cody Howard had a pretty great Midlands, with some big wins, and TJ has entered the mix in the last month or so as he descended down. Who ever comes out of the gauntlet, could have a fun little run through the ACC schedule with big matches against UNC, Pitt and NC St.

Our Fans, boosters and alumni are the best!!

The SERTC is a huge component of our NIL... it runs this engine, and the more supportive the SERTC can be, the better off our program will be. We hope to have 2 current Hokies matriculate to the SERTC as resident athletes....which I believe is what we should strive for! Hokies who have great college careers, want to give back, and then also strive for Olympic and World Championship success.

We will cross that bridge in March.

He is an exceptional young man, with many aspirations off the mat. But if he does, Blacksburg will be home!

The big guys...

Sasso and Mullen have really taken this RS year and run with it...They are going to be really great closers for the Hokies. Both would be ranked in the top 15 this year, and both push each other every day in the room. I anticipate both of them to be top 10 as RS Freshman, and the sky will be the limit. But the rest of the freshman, as well as multiple upperclassmen have risen with the tide, there is no place to hide on the 4th floor of Cassell Coliseum, in the Red Roberston Wrestling Complex!

I can't talk about unsigned recruits...

But we hope to have a new signee soon, and we just got a big commitment from a 1 year transfer to plug a huge hole for next year!!

Yes for the most part...

And this will answer a couple questions... but we will see Raf(2x), Mullen(possible3x), and Sasso(possible 2x)in upcoming dual meets. But Coop, Sam, Crook, Henson, BA, Brady, Lewis, ???, Smith and Catka... Will most likely be the Postseason lineup. Things are fluid on a weekly basis, but most likely what we are thinking moving forward.

Been a little bit...

Hey guys, with the weekend being off, I'd love to jump on and have some dialogue with VT Wrestling fanatics we have on this board! I will try and answer as many questions as possible underneath this post... the best 64 days of the season are still yet to come! Lets Go!! -Bryce is rehabbing hard in hopes of being back by the postseason, it was a scary 24-48 hours post injury, until we knew exactly what was wrong. (Saw this question below)

Intrasquad, Maroon and Orange Match

Most likely will not have one, but we plan on doing something informal in Cassell like an open match day type practice. We will be sure to inform everyone as soon as we figure that out. Appreciate you guys and your constant support!

65- Brady, Hippolito, Finn 84- Fisher, Stewart, Howard 97- Smith, Stewart, Sasso Best guesses at the moment, but there are all kinds of possibilities at all 3 weight classes. Could have any of 3 starters on any given week this year. Good problems to have.
