Virginia Tech issued a short press release yesterday announcing the transfer of sophomore guard Jalen Hudson out of the program.

Blacksburg, va. – Virginia Tech head men’s basketball coach Buzz Williams announced that Jalen Hudson asked for and was granted his release today.
Hudson, a sophomore guard from Richmond, Virginia, appeared in 67 games in his two seasons at Virginia Tech, starting 27 times, including 23 starts this past season. He averaged 8.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore.

Hudson showed great flashes at times:
- Feb. 25, 2015: 23 points, 6 rebounds vs. #4 Duke
- Mar. 10, 2015: 32 points vs. Wake Forest (ACC Tournament)
- Jan. 3, 2016: 23 points vs. NC State
- Jan. 27, 2016: 27 points vs. #16 Louisville
- Mar. 16, 2016: 28 points vs. Princeton (NIT)
But Hudson was also very inconsistent. 31 times in his 67 career games, he scored 5 points or fewer, including 14 times this season.
Hudson's transfer opens a second scholarship spot for Buzz Williams for next season. Satchel Pierce announced his transfer earlier this week.
