Southwest Onslow (Jacksonville, N.C.) standout Jimmie Taylor IV has verbally committed to Virginia Tech, multiple outlets including Rivals and 247Sports report. Taylor, who has been listed anywhere from 6'3" to 6'4" and weighs about 230 pounds, becomes the first defensive end prospect to commit to the Hokies in the class of 2016.
In addition to Virginia Tech, Taylor held offers from Duke, Michigan, North Carolina, NC State, South Carolina and Tennessee. 247Sports, Rivals, ESPN and Scout all rank the promising prospect on the 3-star level. As a junior last season, Taylor amassed 71 tackles including 15.5 sacks.
