Mount Tabor (Winston-Salem, N.C.) standout wide receiver Divine Deablo has verbally committed to Virginia Tech following a visit to Blacksburg this past weekend.
Deablo, a 6'3", 200-pound rising senior, was one of Virginia Tech's top class of 2016 targets at his position. He easily reached double-digit scholarship offers, receiving offers from Virginia Tech, Clemson, Florida, North Carolina, NC State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wake Forest and West Virginia, among others.
Deablo enjoyed a terrific sophomore season, averaging over 19 yards per catch en route to hauling in 764 yards receiving. He added 282 yards rushing in 2013. There aren't as many junior season highlights of Deablo on his Hudl page; however, you can watch his sophomore season highlights below.
ESPN.com ranks Deablo as a 4-star prospect and the no. 172 overall prospect in the nation in the class of 2016. The three other national recruiting outlets -- 247Sports, Rivals, and Scout -- rank him as a 3-star recruit.
TSL's Chris Coleman is very high on Deablo's abilities, stating the following in a recent recruiting article where he addressed Virginia Tech's wide receiver recruiting...
"I like Deablo more than any other wide receiver in the class. The North Carolina native will likely choose between Virginia Tech and UNC, and he wants to return to a game this season (hopefully Ohio State). He is from Winston-Salem, just two hours down the road from Blacksburg. If Tech can close the deal on Deablo, it would be a huge boost to this offensive class."
The Hokies may not be finished adding to the wide receiver position this week. DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD) rising senior receiver Tino Ellis is expected to announce on Friday, July 31, while Bayside (Virginia Beach, VA) standout rising senior Phillip Patterson will commit to his school of choice on Saturday, August 1. Also, Florida class of 2016 prospect Dredick Snelson tweeted that he "loved" his visit to Virginia Tech this past weekend.
