Multiple outlets are reporting that backup quarterback Andrew Ford will transfer from Virginia Tech.
HokieHaven.com teased the information on Twitter last night without naming Ford, and @wslsScores later tweeted that Ford was the player in question.

The news was later confirmed by Andy Bitter of The Roanoke Times in this article, who tweeted last night that Ford asked for his release about two weeks ago.

Ford, named Pennsylvania’s Gatorade State Player of the Year in 2013, was well-regarded coming out of high school. He never saw any game action at Virginia Tech, and his spring scrimmage performances were inconsistent. His high point was an impressive 12-of-15 performance in a scrimmage in April of 2014.
As of this writing, Ford had not confirmed or discussed the transfer on his Twitter account.
Dakota Jackson's transfer, mentioned in the @wslsScores tweet above, has not been confirmed. Bitter reported in his article above that Jackson has not asked for a release from his scholarship.
