According to Doug Doughty of The Roanoke Times, Virginia Tech is welcoming two new transfers into the football program: place kicker Remington Hinshaw and defensive end Wade Hansen.

Hinshaw is originally from Roanoke, VA where he played for Patrick Henry High School. He went 15-of-22 on his field goal attempts last season for the Richmond Spiders. Hinshaw will have to sit out this season, and he will be a r-junior in 2014. Cody Journell is a senior this year, so Hinshaw will have an opportunity to challenge for the starting job as soon as he is eligible.
Wade Hansen has played Division III football for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers over the past two seasons. He was the teams Rookie of the Year in 2011. In 2012, he posted 9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in eight games.
Hansen will sit out this season, and will be a r-junior in 2014. He is listed at 6-5, 240 on the Rensselaer website. The Hokies lose three senior defensive ends following the 2013 season: James Gayle, JR Collins and Tyrel Wilson.
