Virginia Tech has elevated Director of Basketball Operations Andy Moore to assistant coach.  He replaces Mark Byington, who is now head coach at Georgia Southern.

“Andy has been a loyal and valued member of our staff over the last year, “ James Johnson said. “He will take on some new responsibilities, but his familiarity with me, with the program and the players will add to the continuity and help us move forward with our program. Our players, know, like and respect Andy and his basketball IQ.”

Moore has spent time as an assistant coach at Michigan, Eastern Michigan Bowling Green.  He will now assume full-time recruiting duties for Virginia Tech, and his job will begin in earnest during the July evaluation period.
