Hokies and Clemson to Play at 6pm

The Virginia Tech-Clemson game on October 1 will kickoff at 6pm, and the game
will be televised by ESPN2, according to today's announcement on HokieSports.com.

The Hokies and Tigers are both 3-0 on the season. Clemson didn't look
impressive in their first two games, but beat Auburn 38-24 at home this past
Saturday. They will face Florida State this coming weekend, and hope to improve
to 4-0.

Assuming Virginia Tech takes care of business at Marshall this week, the
Hokies will be 4-0 heading into the Clemson game.

Saturday night games have been few and far between recently. Tech has only
played in four home Saturday night games since 2005, and two of those were ESPNU
telecasts.

This will be Tech's first non-ESPNU telecast in a home Saturday night game since
the 2005 North Carolina game.

Roberts Has Surgery, Likely Out for Season

Virginia Tech senior wide receiver Dyrell Roberts broke his left arm on the
opening kickoff of Saturday's 26-7 win over Arkansas State. Roberts had surgery
on Sunday, and will likely miss the remainder of the 2011 season.

With Roberts out, the Hokies lose a major force in the kickoff return game,
as well as one of their most experienced wide receivers. He is Tech's all-time
leader in kickoff return yards.

Because he has never taken a redshirt in the past, and because he has played
in just three games this season, Roberts is eligible to return to the team in
2012 as a r-senior.

Five ACC teams are currently ranked in the top 25 in at least one of the two
major polls. The Hokies are 13th in the AP Poll and 11th in the USA Today
Coaches Poll. They are the highest-ranked ACC team in the Coaches Poll.

Florida State dropped in rankings thanks to a 23-13 loss to #1 Oklahoma on
Saturday night. Clemson, Georgia Tech and North Carolina all moved into the top
25 for the first time. All three teams are 3-0 on the season.
